you'd need to ask the admin what happened But basicly forum dissappeared for short time and was reincarnated on the 9th March 2004-

which is the start date for many- originals- no one before that because it was lost.

The forum pre dates 2004 for many of us.

I recall early 2000's posting and at one stage posting directly on saints website.

ahh the memories.....the baby faced Riewoldts/Kosi's who were "bookends" and flags a certainty..........

Yeah I first got on to it in 1998 when my name had some meaning. There are still people on here who were already established when I first joined.

And some of us were around in those days, and since the collapse, but utlise it more as a source of info...not so much for posting. There must be a lot of other passive members out there.

With that said, since moving to Perth, I am trying to be a more active user.

What? Ignore the highlights provided by Plugger66 & Barks4eva? Always worth a laugh.

It's a shame the pre 2004 forumdoes not exist. For a relative newbie like me I think it would be intersting to see the posts, and posters of around 98. I could imagine what it would have been like with the sacking of Alves, then that horrible reign of Watson, the place would have been in meltdown everyday. I would liked to have been around with the rise of roo, kosi, hamil and the group of 2004/5

Remember when the Butterss, GT era was in swing, they used to come on here regularly and post, especially GT. Remember GT used to post his cryptic (wasn't it on Fri eve's in off season??) and we would all try n guess his meaning. He would leave it till after the weekend to give us the answer or say who was correct.

Also remember the time the team had that trip to South Africa and Nathan Burke came on (his first year as an Assistant coach I think it was) and gave us a rundown on what happened at the training camp and visits to the various places they took the boys too.

Ah they were the Good Old Days of posting. That was before the official Saints site was run by Telstra. Then GT and the others weren't allowed to come on as this site was seen as opposition to the official site

I came to Perth 1996 and I think Roger got me interested in the site 1998 or 1999. I know I used to be shocked by Dan Warna's comments and I was petrified of stinger........................ both of them are neuted old pussycats I've since discovered

Hey Dan I would love you to bring back your intermittent "news items"............. they were brilliant and often leave me RATFLMAO. :P

Yes..... I can recall it all Davo027, actually GT didn't visit him, but kept ringing the hospital in WA until he could talk to Roger. He was persistent was GT. Roger was at one hopspital, GT tried there but he had been transferred to intensive care in a Perth hospital, so he followed up to the hospital he had been transferred to Medical staff were trying to keep Roger calm etc. each time he got a message that GT had called again...... I think his blood pressure went through the roof. After a few days of trying GT eventually got to talk to him. I don't think any other AFL coaches would have bothered, trying to track down an ill supporter who GT didn't even know and had only read his posts on an internet footy site.

There has been a lot of criticism of GT over the years, but in those early days he had the right attitude in getting all those young players and the imports (Gehrig, Hamill etc) to bond well and he had so much time for supporters. He did care. It was a real attempt to get the 'culture' at St Kilda changed for a new era, and giving supporters the message to hang in and just believe. He and Buttress were the right people for the team at that time................ so sad it all went downhill.............. cause they were real fun times.

Yes all those messages posted to Roger. I was a total computer illiterate then and couldn't work out how to print them off, so I had to hand write them all out. I think there were over 120 messages, so it was a laborious process.

Yes SS was like one big extended family then. Posters had their spats, some were incredible biffos, but none of the visciousness, personal baiting and stalking that goes on now. No wonder some of the original posters only read and don't post so much anymore................. mores the pity eh, cause they were a colourful bunch :( :( I just loved Spelly.......... she was like greased lightening on the keyboard with her corrections.

Also remember a few days before the team were going to South Africa, some official from the club couldn't go at the last moment. GT got on this site and offered the place to anyone on this site first before he was going to open it up to persons connected to the club the following day. I can recall all you had to come up with was your airfare and a bit of spending money. Accommodation was paid for, but he said the person would have had to work as dog's body. Never head iif anyone from the site took the offer up.
