David Hobson........What an ending!!!!!!
Just returned home from the Perth Concert Hall, I went to see those two fantastic opera stars David Hobson (Tenor) and Teddy Tahu Rhodes (Bass Baritone) in concert.
David Hobson thanked the audience for making the effort to get to the concert tonight, he thought many would not have been unable to turn up, because Perth has been in shut down mode for the last few days with CHOGM and the Queen's visit. There are no go zones all over the city at present. We had to get through a maze of police & detours to get into the Concert Centre.
After a wonderful finale duet of "Amazing Grace". Hobson came out with the following:
"Thanks Perth for coming out to see us tonight. After all we know you have all had a difficult time of late, you've been CHOGMed out, you've been Queened out, Big Aussie Bar-B-Qued out AND.......you have been ROSS LYONED out"
It took the audience a few seconds for it to sink in what he had said, then some laughter broke out.
Then Hobson went on "Melbourne wanted him and thought they would get him, but you've got big mines here in the West so only Freo could afford him.....and you'll need those mines". Then he prattled on a bit....."I suppose I should wish Freo and Ross Lyon Good-Luck....... especially Freo, they will need it."
That was the last thing I expected to hear at an operatic concert, such a comment about Lyin from David Hobson
Seems other clubs supporters (ie Hobson) don't like him also. Just shows if you operate in a deceitful manner you lose respect from all sides. By the way David Hobson is a real Deamon supporter. Played a few games with Melbourne seconds sometime in the 1970's if I recollect correctly.
Thank goodness Hobson & Rhodes did an encore at the end so I could leave the concert with pleasant vibes.

Amazing, Loris!! And a bit odd really.
I wonder how Hobson and Rhodes would feel is Ross took some time out after his next press conference to say that he thought their rendition of the duet from Bizet's Pearl Fisher sucks and they'd be better off leaving it to Roberto Alagna and Bryn Terfel?

My Mrs who works in the industry reckons that he is a very nice person but not the greatest singer. He apparently appeals to the old ladies who love him.thirty-seven!? wrote:Anyone who has met David will be able to attest that he is a bit odd... Smart man, but seems to be away with the fairies a bit and doesn't mind prattling on...
