Could the sub rule prolong Milney's career

Whilst I think he still has a good 2 years left him playing out full games. The way the sub seems to be getting used is a damaging player coming on late 3rd quarter to hit the score board, could he stay around longer coming on late fresh! Hence keeping his reflexes and speed up with his opponents as they are tiring?

I dont think so. It is for a young player with speed who can have an inpact all over the ground ideally.

When watching Milney, he doesn't really stick just to the forward line. He's a clever player up the field also, although that was the old game plan! We shall see how Scotty positions him.

good topic. i'd rather a 2 man bench, no sub.
but if we're having subs, why not just name the emergencies all as subs and choose one during the game, as the situation calls for. if that were the case milne would be ideal.

Not a bad thought, the amount of first goals he kicked this year shows he is obviously switched on as soon as he's on the ground. But I do agree that the sub rule would probably be used for a young livewire type player who can play multiple positions.

Why would you not play him from the start if he is ready to go!

Age catches up...in a couple of years time a 33year old Lenny could probably play a great qtr or half but struggle for a whole game week after week.

Same argument for supersubs in the EPL, Gasgoine on for the last 20 minutes when the game has slowed down.

They still know where to run, have hard bodies and a wealth of experience....so instead of a young player, you might use the sub for prolonging the career of an older player

I think the sub should have pace, which they can use to advantage as others are getting tired. Milney is not quick enough to be the sub.
I'd rather have him on the ground for the whole game, as he's always dangerous.

Also, as Milney is doing a coaching course, I think he'll retire when his form drops, and he'll look for a coaching gig while he has currency - rather than extend his career.

I'd expect Saad or Milera to be used as subs at some point next year, assuming their form is good enough for the firsts.
