So what's the deal with Archer then?

If that list is correct, we have 8 off the Senior List, and 3 off the Rookie list.
As we have already picked up Milera and Saad, we have 6 more picks for the draft, and at least 3 for the rookie draft.

If this list is correct, then we are likely to hold on to Raph, Grammy, Blake and Polo, all of which I would support.

that probably sounds about right. as the saints had had said near the end of trading, that they wanted 6 picks in the draft.

Feel a bit sorry for Johnson as saw his only game in Adelaide where he got crunched at one of the first times the ball game down forward. He did not recover and was subbed off.
Never had a chance really.

agree, but many of those players never had a chance with lyon. who is to say, that with a different coach, there would have been different outcomes?

We all should just wait on the last four until there is official word from the club. Until official, lists like these are pure speculation and have little substance.

Players managers have been told of delistings but asked not to pass it on to the players. Uncontracted Players are to turn up on Friday at 11am to have a meeting. Raph has not even been offered a new contract YET???? Club has said that there are up to 6 left to still be confirmed(contracts) for 2012. Delisted guys are tossing up whether or not to turn up. Not sure if Archer has been delisted yet.

Narrow view, they are usually very accurate on there and pride themselves on being the first to break the news.

only based on those comments My suggestion would be that maybe opportunity is still there-- turning up cannot hurt.

You can add Cahill as a definite and Polo will be lucky. Some of the guys like Johnson may get a second chance.

Senior players Zac Dawson, Brett Peake, Raph Clarke, Farren Ray, Ryan Gamble and Dean Polo are all out of contract and likely to take an enforced pay cut next year if they want to stay with the Saints.

Read more: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/s ... z1btQe9fvd

So Gamble is still a chance to stay?

I'm confused :?

Interesting article K,

I'd be happy if all those players stayed for less money... Dawson and Clarke are the only required players in that bunch (IMO) whereas Ray, Peake and Polo are ok players with very noticeable definicies.
Gamble should be of minimal wage if he stays

Too bad about Gaertner... really liked that kid although that's ancient history

I would be surprised and hurt if Johnson, Archer, Polo or Smith left the club.

Especially key position players Archer and Johnson - think they have a future from what I have seen.

Look at Archer - turned twenty yesterday and is 99kg and begining to move well. A 193cm big boy is something we can use.

It might be a case of "required" players being offered contracts but baulking at taking pay cuts.

If a "required" player fails to sign by a deadline then that "required" player is delisted and a "to be delisted" player wins a reprieve.

Managers are told first apparently so the manager can still be proactive and talk to other clubs, etc. The club want to be the ones to tell the players so they have all been called to Seaford for a meeting on Friday morning.
The players that have been listed previously are all the correct ones according to several players I have spoken to. Archer seems to be the one that nobody is sure about either way.

Absolutely spot on!!!! That is the scenario, however the "delisted guys" all seem to think it is unlikely they will get another chance.

Yes, UNOFFICIALLY but the managers are more loyal to the players and can't keep secrets! See above as to why they can't be told Officially

If you haven't had a contract offer by now, you KNOW.
If you get as late offer, it is because someone else has chosen to walk.
