Nick (and a couple of others)WAS a neighbour of mine. Told me he did NOT have a contract for 2012. Spoke to him on w/end and he said he knew"it was going to be tight". His manager has had some enquiries from several other AFL clubs over the last 6-8 weeks.Bernard Shakey wrote:Heyne will be rookied as he's contracted.

I wish all the delisted guys the best of luck in the future. Most of their careers were killed by RL and they aren't happy campers!

Obviously it was Stanley and Simpkin as well. Were you the one who mowed his lawns. Did they get rid of that bloody dog?Ross who? wrote:Nick (and a couple of others)WAS a neighbour of mine. Not sure why you had to name names as I was trying to respect their privacy a bit. Their dog went to Nicks farm months ago.
Perhaps now you would like to admit that my sources are good instead of accusing me of being wrong with my info.

Think Will Johnson just revealed he has been delistedz. This is the retweet by Sandringham.
RT @willyjay38 "Training hurts Calves about to explode! Beach time 4 some recovery w/ Sandsy (SFC player) &Thommo (SFC Conditioning Coach)"
Why would he be with Sandringham conditioning staff if he was on Saints list still....

So by the looks of it.....
First choice team
Gwilt Dawson Geary
Gilbert Fisher Gram
Montagna Dal Santo Goddard
Peake Riewoldt Schneider
Milne Koschitzke Saad
McEvoy Hayes Steven
Int. Jones Armitage Dempster Sub Ray
Back-up ruck
Blake, Stanley
Back-up forwards
Stanley, Milera, Sipposs
Back-up mids
Polo, Winmar, Cripps, Ledger, Crocker
Back-up defenders
Simpkin, Clarke
----------------------------------------------
For mine the obvious gap is that we're short a back-up experienced tall forward/2nd ruck. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see us pick-up O'hailpin with a late pick - though the sticking point may be $$. For the other positions we have enough players who can play a number of roles who can cover.
I'd expect us to pick up 4-5 new players and 1-2 recycled players.
Leaving us with one less on the list. Next year the likes of Blake, Winmar, Polo, Clarke, Ray, Peake and anyone we might lose to free agency could go, allowing us to pick up perhaps 4 or 5 players next year also.

Get Saad has done well to work straight into the first team ahead of experienced players like Blake, Raph, Polo and even the already tried youngsters like Cripps and Ledger. He clearly had a huge pre-season.Richter wrote:So by the looks of it.....

Good one Ace.
Lol. I know, his inclusion is pretty speculative. The point of the exercise for me was not particularly to discuss the team - more to help to identify areas of weakness to see if we might try to pick up any particular type of mature-age or recycled player in the draft.meher baba wrote:Get Saad has done well to work straight into the first team ahead of experienced players like Blake, Raph, Polo and even the already tried youngsters like Cripps and Ledger. I think the targets for the draft are pretty obvious: ruckmen and tall forwards. And they will always go for quality mids, regardless of how many we have on the list already.Richter wrote:Lol. yeah, i expect both of them to move inside the list actually, so that the salary cap is spread over 36 not 38. that gives a bit of cap headroom and means we can have a couple more rookies.ace wrote:Should the club choose to have up to 2 less draft picks (to help with salary cap problems) then players Hayes and / or Blake will be moved inside this list, one for each pick forgone.
then those rookie spots might be taken up by some of these delisted players who have been effectively downgraded to the rookie list. not sure how much we'll get out of a fresh round 5 rookie draft selection in a year with a pretty shallow draft...
yeah, those late picks won't end up being that bad as many clubs will use their last pick on a rookie promotion. probably not far over 60 effectively.ace wrote:Should other clubs fail to delist sufficient players then they will fail to activate picks and so advance St Kilda's picks.
In terms of untried players yes, but I also think that we will take a recycled 2nd ruck/tall as we have only Blake as back-up and BJ as a utility who could play as a Tall forward. Stanley still pretty raw.meher baba wrote: I think the targets for the draft are pretty obvious: ruckmen and tall forwards. well the coach is not lyon, so maybe we won't pick any recycled playersRichter wrote:In terms of untried players yes, but I also think that we will take a recycled 2nd ruck/tall as we have only Blake as back-up and BJ as a utility who could play as a Tall forward. I agree with you: we will be looking for talls from wherever we can get them. So recycling will be ok in this regard. But I doubt we'll be going for any more recycled Ray/Polo-type players or another Gamble-type.Richter wrote:In terms of untried players yes, but I also think that we will take a recycled 2nd ruck/tall as we have only Blake as back-up and BJ as a utility who could play as a Tall forward.
