Shaun Ryan triple premiership umpire retires!
Shaun Ryan another Geelong great has retired bringing down the curtain on a stellar umpiring career that included three premierships!
Shaun Ryan grew up supporting Geelong and lived the dream by being a key player in Geelong's 2009 premiership success.
A lawyer as if we didn't already know he cannot be trusted had possibly his finest moment for Geelong when standing only five metres away and with a clear unobstructed view chose to call play on when Schnieder had his jumper almost ripped off into Lennox street.
St kilda leading by two points 20 minutes into the last quarter with Schnieder 30 metres out on any other day would have received a free kick but Ryan dug deep and did his bit for the team.
Then with only five minutes to go with scores level and the ball kicked to Riewoldt in the goal square, Taylor grabs him by the shoulder as Scarlett charges front on with no eyes on the ball and makes strong contact.
On any other day a free kick for either incident but once again Ryan held firm to deny the opposition and his performance was pivotal in his teams premiership success.
Even this year when Pendlebury kicked what would have been the winning goal against Geelong in the home and away season which umpire incorrectly called it back and disallowed the goal helping Geelong win the game?
No prizes for guessing!
CHEAT!

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Don't forget the goal that was a point. I'm sure he saw that too...

I read on saintsational that Ryan was a cats supporter after our Qualfiying Final win against them in 2010. The tone of that forum was that if Ryan had been the closest umpire to the play we would not have received the free that we did, which effectively saved the game for us because Ryan barracks for Geelong.
But I heard Ryan interviewed on SEN recently, who said that he sort of barracked for Richmond as a kid, but didn't really follow any team
passionately as he was living in South Warnambool when he was a kid.

He's a lawyer, of course he would say something like that to cover his tracks and hide his true clandestine agenda!samuraisaint wrote: But I heard Ryan interviewed on SEN recently, who said that he sort of barracked for Richmond as a kid, but didn't really follow any team

The exact moment after Ryan, the renown Geelong support and cheat cost us the flag.
Lenny is restraining Ryan who was trying to penalise Schneider for taking a dive.
We were lucky Lenny didn't get reported.
