THE first month of the 2012 season will feature a stand-alone opener between Greater Western Sydney and Sydney and a Ross Lyon grudge match.

The fixture, to be released on Friday, October 28, will also contain two clashes between 2011 grand finalists Geelong and Collingwood.

The AFL yesterday released key dates for the 2012 draw, with all clubs travelling interstate at least five times and 22 games spread over 23 weeks.

Clubs are yet to receive their draft copies of the draw. GWS and the Swans will play a game in Sydney a week before Carlton and Richmond kick-start the rest of Round 1.

The clash between coach Ross Lyon's old club, St Kilda, and new one, Fremantle, was at one stage likely to be scheduled for Round 1, but is expected to be pushed back.

It is believed the AFL's determination to schedule the contest in Melbourne, rather than Perth, to maximise interest means a slight tinkering with the date.

LOL at WWE! Half way through the match the lights will go out, heavy metal music will blast and Mark Harvey will run out and cause a disruption by attacking the Fremantle players with a steel chair. The match will result in a disqualification with the ending shot being of Mark Harvey running up to the Fremantle coaching box cussing like a mad man as Ross Lyon makes a quick escape to the boos of the fans.

If the Saints are focused on a match against Fremantle then the season is lost already.

I couldn't give a stuff about Freo and their coach.

We need to work out how to beat the Cats, Pies, Eagles, Hawks and Blues.

I love playing Fremantle its one of the only times of the year I can use my favourite sledge to opposition supporters, "How many flags have you won d**khead?"
