I think we will use most of our picks. We had pick 108 last year.

afl.com.au stating we only want to use 6 picks in the draft... how many does that mean need to go? We've added two, lost one (Walsh was rookie), retired/delisted 3? My head hurts....

No salary cap relief there. We will have to let some big names fall into the draft. Maybe Cahill will be saved as he is cheap!

Raph and Dawson would probably be near the top of a few "hit lists" I think Heyne is probably on his way? I thought Archer (on the showing in his one( ) game V Richmond) was worth retaining

Heye has a year to go on his contract (yes?) so delisting him doesn't affect our slary cap at all. Will therefore stay I would have thought.

Somebody on here a month or two back reckoned they were being told by supporters of another club that when fit Cahill was a potential gun. He had a couple of promising games, then got hurt. Marks well, kicks straight.

Think it was word from South Australia...isn't that where he's from? Be interesting if he got fit. But maybe he doesn't get the chance.

We also have to take the axe to greedy players salaries and their managers.

Geelong and Collingwood don't have players on over $900,000.

Riewoldt will have plenty to complain about poor delivery and lack of support next year but will he complain to the face in the mirror.

Walsh wont be stepping up to provide an alternate forward target.
The club could not afford to keep him.
Underpaid midfielders will be more interested in what other clubs might deliver them than delivering the ball.

You can't call for teamwork in a huddle and expect to get it when only you are the only beneficiary.

That was our old boy 'To The Top'
His mail is that Cahill will be a gun, which would be great.
My main memory of him is spilling a regulation chest mark in NAB cup game.
This would be a great time for him to step up if he has the goods, he's the same age as Stanley though so could take longer to come on being a big guy.

Facts
every club has to make 3 spaces available to be used in the draft ( Carlton have to ditch someone)

Gone from St Kilda
Gardiner,
Eddy
McQualter
Baker
Lynch
Walsh

so in fact no more need to be - EXCEPT--- Salary Cap

during trade week St Kilda went from having 3 picks under 68
to having 6 picks under 8

so in Theory-- WHEN the club realign their salary situation they are 1 for 1 in the out numbers and the in numbers- and any more now will be draft or preseason ( doubt we will be eligible) extras.

If Eddy and Walsh are rookies, surely they don't count?

In reality we have lost four, picked up two in trades that have to go on the senior list. So we need one more off the senior list. If Heyne gets rookied it fills the criteria.

But - why would the list management team have bargained for pick 68 in the Walsh trade? Surely picks 78 and 96 are enough for any rookie elevations (not that it will happen, and in which case more delistings would be needed).

These are all rookies - removing them doesn't fix our senior list position or salary cap. You'd think all except maybe Andreoli would go around again.

How many can be on the rookie list? The pies have 8 on the website?

Could we down-grade a few of our underwhelming seniors? Cahill/Heyne

Whoops - Baker was a veteran so outside the list.

A minimum of two must be delisted.

Heyne is likely to be rookied given that he is contracted for another year.

Cahill is almost certain to get the chop if Sandringham observers are anything to go by.

I notice Archer is listed as senior on our site, was he a rookie this year?

The bottom 3 here were all First year players. Isn't it mandatory for new draftees to get a minimum 2 year contract.(Even Rookies)???????
