I am excited for the first time since GT.
I know most at this forum are or we're big Ross Lyon (In Ross we trust Idiots) fans. I now carnt wait to get back to the games after not going since Ross has been there. In saying that I was a member and social club member since 2000 and the first year Lyon (In Ross we trust) was at the club. I traveled interstate and loved my saints and have waited so long for Lyon ( In Ross we Trust) too piss off from under the rock he came. People on here at this forum had short memories and criticized GT, for what he had tried to do and made me hate my club. I now am excited again. Watters sounds great already, no double speak crap like Ross and he is making f****** sense. I did go to both Grand Finals and was disappointed in our style of play, like most for past few years under Ross. But all I know is that I love my Saints again. And I can't wait to see them back on the park next season with a new style and new personal in charge. I like to think that one day I will see my Saints win a Grand Final in my lifetime. Not through negative defensive football and double speak, but by just being the best f****** team that played that year. Respect is earnt not given. Let's earn it the proper way, the way the game should be played. Good old fashioned hard attacking, scoring football. Strength through loyalty.

Can't understand your sentences but I hear what your saying.
"Too big, too strong, too whatever."

IMO the GT era was an exercise in pointless, flashy football that was never going to win us a flag backed by inept conditioning staff who could never get a full side on the park. A hugely frustrating time of wasted talent and opportunity. Just as well Saints supporters are a resilient lot because after yet another disastrous week at the trade table I think there will be a lot more pain before the sun shines again on our football club.

I think you're highlighting two absolute low points of that period as positives. We had Port on toast and blew it. We let Sydney run all over us in the last quarter. I never felt more miserable at a game of football than that one... barring maybe the last 5 minutes of the GF against Geelong in 2009. I'm feeling justifiably negative about the year ahead following a terrible trade trade week and a disappointing season.thesaint77 wrote:Guru.? Pointless flashy Football? We lost to Port 2004 by 6 points in the preliminary final over there. They went on to win the flag. And 2005 we lost to Sydney after being up at three quarter time in the preliminary. And they won the the flag! You Serious?

seems to me Guru your full of negatives.
What happened to the Saints supporters of old who stuck through thick & thin.
I've been a supporter for 50 years and also must admit that some of the least enjoyable moments have come during the past 5 years - negative football, negative supporters & negative press.
Lets embrace the new Coach and start feeling positive about our Club again.
Remember lazy reporters read these posts, providing them with negative stories about our Club.
Go Sainters!!

Losing Tommy Walsh has shaken my faith in the future of this club considerably. I too have followed this club since the dawn of time and will take a teaspoon of concrete and get back on the bandwagon... tomorrow.beartalbot wrote:

It's great to get back to pairs of double consonants like under dear old Rod.
Rod Butterss - what a great pair of doubles!
Now Scott Watters.
Shame it wasn't Watterss.

c'MON 3D, all I'm saying is that I feel excited and comfortable about next season for the first time for years.saint3d wrote:While I don't disagree with the sentiment of the OP, I take issue with the thread title.
Apologies to those for whom old wounds will be opened through viewing the above image. But it's hard to argue as a Saints supporter that you weren't excited when it happened.
I don't see why you should take issue with that title?

I take it 3D it's the GT section of the thread that offended you.thesaint77 wrote:c'MON 3D, all I'm saying is that I feel excited and comfortable about next season for the first time for years.saint3d wrote:While I don't disagree with the sentiment of the OP, I take issue with the thread title.

Well let's just say that their is quite a few of us Sainters who, like Saint77, enjoyed our years under GT, Stan Alves & Kenny Sheldon etc.
I guess you could say we remain positive as some of us ride the waves of emotion that comes with supporting the Saints better than others.
The 70's & 80's were tough, however we still stick together.

Edit: Just read more closely. We need pairs of double consonants. Allan Killegrew, Geoff Cunningham, Brett Voss, Russell Greene, Jeff Dunne, Barry Hall
