Full list of who sponsors which player is here: http://www.saints.com.au/player%20spons ... fault.aspx

You'll find its "core" & "leadership" players that struggle to get many people due to the higher price.

Prices have gone up next year, i know these prices for these 2 catergories.

Development - $1700
Core - $2000

Im sure you'll be able to get Saad aswell. 4 or 5 different people can normally sponsor them, as far as i know only 1 person has so far..

I've always wondered this, and I'm sure someone can clear it up for me.....what benefits does one get from sponsoring a player? Is it just the exposure of having your name up there, or is there something else? Does the player get the money, or does it go to the club?

History of player sponsorship- As I explain to friend s who ask
I guess it started when clubs needed people to sponsor the clubs jumpers.
to provide as someone said the boots and the shorts..... It has grown from there

for some it would be the bonus of getting your name/ company associated with a club but now there are benefits of getting first in to several Club events.

when you sponsor development players the benefit is mostly for the sponsor.
Club takes the benefit when it gets to the core leadership and Captain sponsors

for your ?$1,700 in 2012 ? was $1,500 this year
you got 2 tickets to seasons launch- worth around $300 per ticket= $600
2 tickets to best and fairest -at over $300- = $600
2 tickets to inseason match day function over $150 = $300 +
2 tickets to inseason sponsors function- worth over $150 = $300 +
+ Framed memorabilia piece- worth?? even just framing- $Over $300
there's value to $2,100

for Premium sponsors there are extra benefits and larger framed item.

Can we get our money back from Tommy so that it can be redirected to a player who is committed to the club?
With his new deal at Sydney ($$$) he shouldn't find this too much of an ask...

and it's fun to think you have a connection-- the players these days are much more attuned to what it's about

I remember being involved in a group that sponsored some years ago and the players had no idea- about player sponsors, and weren't interested.
they are much better schooled and anyone who attended the In seaosn function a couple of months ago will re iterate how relaxed and happy to chat they were-
bonus of sponsoring a lesser known player is they have less tugs on them from everyone attending-- everone want to chat to or get photo with Lenny or Roo or BJ

actually thats a pretty good idea
we usually get two or three players to sponsor anyway, why not always pick the lowest draft pick each year then vote on the other one/two??

Why not run a Poll on Sainsational to open it up to a lot more Posters.

I would be happy with the ones already mentioned, easpecially Saad, but he will attract many sponsors. Milera and Winmar would probably be two low key players who would appreciate the support.

You can have multiple sponsorships of one player.
I think up to four.
So for example I am a sponsor of Tommy (or was) independently of Saintsational.

So there is no reason why multiple sponsors can't sponsor Saad.
It sounds like that as "homeless" sponsors we will have first pick on the new players.

PS Can we please remove Tommy from the Saintsational header banner.

Enrico is correct.

As a sponsor ofTommy this last season we have first right of refusal on anybody who is available to sponsor , as a replacement for Tommy.
It is immaterial that another fan site is claiming they will be sponsoring Saad. They will only be able to do so if he is avaialable at the time the 'sponsorships' are thrown open to the general public to purchase.

At this point the Club is asking for current sponsors to commit to season 2012 with their currently sponsored players (if they want to) or to nominate alternatives (if available).

Like others have already posted, my preference has always been to take players that have not attracted sponsorships from others. (It always seemed a little 'off' to me that some players may have 5 sponsors and others none!)

As a general rule we've always tended to sponsor players from the 'cheapest' category because we get to sponsor more players for our collective dollars and still receive the same benefits (tickets etc).

The club is locking in 2nd players for people that already sponsor 1 player. On TrueSainters we have been able to secure Sean Dempster even though we didnt sponsor him last year.

Happy with Saad/Milera, maybe alongside pick 25 from this year and Ledger/Cripps/Siposs.

Or do we want to continue with Ferguson and Crocker?
