I received this email from the Club re our Sponsorship of Tommy WEalsh and our 'right' to have first option on him for season 2012:-
Dear 2011 Player Sponsors of Tommy Walsh,
As every year player lists changed at the end of season, unfortunately the St Kilda Football Club and Tommy Walsh will be parting ways as of today as per the below media release and todays closure of AFL ‘Trade Week’.
It appears to me personally as the Irish Supporters in Sydney were on the hunt for a new favourite son with the retirement of Tadgh Kenelley at the end of this 2011 season.
As you were his player sponsors in his final season at the saints, by no means do we want to lose you from the program as a result and hope that you will stay on board the program in 2012 and reap the continual benefits.
Should you have another player in mind to move your sponsorship to in 2012, I advise that you register this interest with me ASAP so that I can put a pending sponsorship on hold for you. Or hold off until the draft.
Renewal information will be sent out in late October and I look forward to talking to you all when that time comes during this very exciting time at St Kilda Football Club.

Subject: Saints wanted to keep Tommy - Herald Sun
UPDATE 3.08pm: ST KILDA says Tommy Walsh ignored a plea from new coach Scott Watters and asked to be traded to Sydney.
Despite new coach Scott Watters declaring this morning Walsh had a big future at the Saints, he joined the Swans in a swap for picks 35 and 68 in the draft.
Watters spoke to Walsh at length this morning, offering him a new contract, elevation to the senior list and more opportunities.
“Tom Walsh indicated to the club that he wanted to make the move to Sydney,â€
"... You want to pose a threat to the opposition in as many ways as you can, both defensively and offensively. We've got a responsibility to explore all those possibilities - and we will."
Interesting suggestion that a major motivating factor for the Swans in recruiting was the need to continue to appeal to an expat Irish supporter group.
"It is useless to attempt to reason a man out of a thing he was never reasoned into."

Sorry guys I would love if we could sponsor sippos and saad but I'm pretty sure your mates at saints footy have already signed up to sponsor them so they say. Maybe seagoing sponsor rhys Stanley??
Siposs is already virtually fully sponsored- and I would imagine most will continue.
I am always in favour of looking at players who are unlikely to draw much attention.
It was good that ALL the team was sponsored this year and many of them up to the 5 times.
each player can only have 4 regular sponsors and 1 premium sponsor.

if so i'd have (preference order): saad, siposs, blake (if still on the list), steven, gwilt. not sure what the prices are like though, i'm sure they get expensive fast.
