Walshs departure dates back 6 months. Lyon totally carnted him over.westy wrote:What an absolute fukking joke this is. What dumb prik allowed this to happen? It makes the new coach look a little silly after having just said he was definitely wanted. What the hell is going on?

I think you;re right JB - my first reaction was "thanks RL" but on reflection I guess it's just the way it goes. I still would have preferred better younger player development under Ross as a general rule. I believe that Lynch and Walsh going is partly a result of that.joffaboy wrote:lol - Lyon is gone, how is it his fault?StGoddard18 wrote:This is all Lyons fault!
Do you think playing one or two seniors games would have kept him at the club considering he was offered so much more from Sydney?
Time to get a grip and wake up that these things occur in trade week

Goes both ways! WE (our coach) never gave him a chance and publicly went around saying he was no good ("he cant control or read the oval ball").SainterK wrote:Yeah, have to agree.matrix wrote:get that picture off the top of our banner!!!!!!!
He didn't want to be a St Kilda player, time for us to move on.
SS posters saw this coming 6 months ago - there was an ongoing campaign to play him him.

Sadly the Saintsational narrative and reality intersect all too infrequently.joffaboy wrote:FFS LYON HAS GONE!!!Con Gorozidis wrote:Money AND lovejoffaboy wrote:Money talks guys.
Lyon is a total CARNT!
What cant you guys understand about that?
This is all about money.
P66 had it pegged days ago.
Walsh was on a rookie contract so only half the money counts in SC. He was to be listed and with our SC issues he would probably be on less money than as a rookie.
Sydney offers him big $$, we cant match it. Simple.
And for whomever said Lyon must cop the blame, this might by EXACTLY why Lyon didn't play him. He knew he was off to Sydney for more money so why bother. Just as feasible as all your other cockamaimie theories
It's like eternally blaming your ex-wife for all your woes.

RL had a massive influence in Walsh going. Tommy's impression of the Saints has been tainted by 3 years under Lyin and no dice.

Was at the club two years
My bad, recruited him as a rookie end of 2009 so I counted that year.
I still think RL should cop a bit of blame for this though.

Yup, I'd say this has more to do with our perilous SC predicament than anything else.... who's responsible for that?tweedaletomanning wrote:Exactly...markp wrote:Sadly the Saintsational narrative and reality intersect all too infrequently.joffaboy wrote:FFS LYON HAS GONE!!!Con Gorozidis wrote:Money AND lovejoffaboy wrote:Money talks guys.

This wasn't about Tommy wanting to move. This was about the Saints running out of options and needing the draft picks. Tommy went because he had market value.

Dont want to be falling victim to sarcasm here, like so many do, but you are not serious are you? He isnt here anymore and he didnt trade these players away. It wouldnt have been his decision to trade for Lovett and as a recruiter im sure he wouldve preferred a pick and im sure he would have preferred to keep walsh and is probably shattered his gone.InkerSaint wrote:I blame John Peake!
Our first round picks from the two years under his watch are now torched in the space of a week.
Although 2009's pick 16 was already burnt, Walsh was the justification for gambling with it.
Saints must be looking for draft picks after missing other deals - delistings to come.

I was hap[py with our trading until today. Now I am not so sure about the competency of the people involved in Trade Week for the Saints. For a start, we need room in our salary cap apparently, and all they can off load is Tom Lynch and Tom Walsh. Not much room gained there I would think. Now because of the imcompetency at the trade table, we will probably have to delist some higher salaried players.
