Can we infer anything from this comment?
From the Saints website ... said he (Watters) "respected" Dean Laidley greatly and the club would be "diligent" in filling the roles that remained vacant.

We have to expect that he Watters will bring in his own people in support roles. I'm not fussed who they are. A few people have said that Laidley does have his strong points. As long as he's not the head coach he could still provide us with something.

It is quite obvious scott watters is a genuinely nice bloke.
But a footy club might need a good cop bad cop thing. No doubt scott is good cop.
So laidley might work as bad cop.
