Archer can fill the gap!
Archer can fill the gap! Dawson was poor without the team defense time to give Archer the mantle. Big body, strong over head not overly quick but can play.

Mcphee all ready plays in their fwd line.defacto wrote:freo need a backman. grover is 30+. pav will be 30 next year? theyre only option is to get a fullback and move one of mcparlin/mcphee forward.Old Mate wrote:Why do we think Freo will definitely take Dawson seeing as the Clarke deal fell through? It was only a suggestion made on Trade News Week. A guess is all it was.
we can really make something happen here.
trading Dawson shouldn't be considered, all the players people are listing that could replace haven't played an AFL game, yet they will be better than Zac?

And we will look good with no full back next year wont we
But this is a new coaching outfit.
They most likely will keep the above two, but can get some mileage with a bit of talk. The unknown factor is huge. It's a big game of poker at the trade desk on Monday !

Do they have a full back to trade? If we're going to give Zac away we're going to need a replacement full back. Unless we want to throw young Simpkin to the wolves or waste Walsh at full back. It just makes no sense to trade Zac away unless there's simply no way we can give him a satisfactory contract.3rd generation saint wrote:Is there anyone at Freo we might look at as a realistic trade for Zac?

[quote="3rd generation saint"]Well, McPhee could be an interesting decoy for Roo, they look very similar.[/quot
McPhee is the one with the hunchback. If you still can't tell then he is the one who can kick straight

this. blake at fullback. chips CHB. develop simpkin. we could even move gamble into the backline. try and keep walsh who could be a bigger body fullback. but we do need to trade for a big body FB or CHB and develop them.BackFromUSA wrote:Blake for full back and Chips at CHB for 2 years while Gilbert, Simpkin develop their bodies more.
we cant afford mcphee he's one of the highest paid players at freo. damn i'd love to have frawley from melbourne right now!!!!

A good full back should preferably be either quick off the mark or have great closing speed (like Max).BackFromUSA wrote:Blake for full back and Chips at CHB for 2 years while Gilbert, Simpkin develop their bodies more.
Blake has neither.
As a fill in FB he is ok...but week in week out he is not the man.
If Zac did in fact go, then Walsh (if we keep him) would be the best fit from our list.

Agree. Unless we have someone else lined up to replace him (like a Warnock) then it makes little sense to get rid of Zac, as much as he is far from perfect. There's still a lot to work with with Zac.Statsman wrote:If we're going to give Zac away we're going to need a replacement full back.
