The drafting of Gamble was stupid last year......Lynch should have played every game Gamble did....

Why was Ross just not willing to put faith in a kid for an extended period??

even drafting Polo was pointless.....his ability was well known after 75 games at Richmond....he was unable to get a gig in a tiger jumper...

much prefer if A Smith or Wimar play instead of him.....they would be a senior season more advanced if they were...
Considering Winmar was injured for much of the year shows how closely you watch Sandy.

Always worried about Lynch, especially when he was continually played out of position when he made the seniors.
And I will never forget Fletcher turning him inside out in his first game. That was terrible. Lyon crucified him that night.
He was terrible against Sydney this year too.
I will take the draft pick that Adelaide gives us for him and be happy for that I'm afraid.
Good luck to him at the Crows. I hope he's succesful, but they aren't.

What a waste of pick 13.

But I guess we have to cut our losses.

Not the first, first round draft pick we wasted in the last 10 years...

Who actually said he wanted out of StK???

has he???

dont think so

seems strange when his family live in Sandrigham and he has supported stk all of his life and he was contracted for 2012

and if so, why???

could it be lack of opportunity????
If I were him, I would have been livid with lack of opprtunities when compared to performances at Sandy.....has anyone actually looked at his record at Sandy since 09...

So Sandy games count more than those very ordinary St Kilda games? He may end up ok but this year he looked very slow. I was right on the fence in the GC game and couldnt believe how slow he was. I still dont get that he would leave for lack of opportunity as that coach is gone. Meybe we actually didnt really have any interest in keeping him.

I remember Wayne Brittain on SEN saying that he was watching him closely during that game and that he clearly wasn't working hard enough.

Probably have to wait til Lynch speaks up before we know the real reasons.

And based on my, admittedly limited, experiences of the Adelaide media I would expect to read those comments in a 10 page colour liftout in the Sunday paper

I think its a comination of factors TBH.

1) Yes he looked slow on occasions, but most 'kids' look slow when they step up, moreso 193cm ones.

2) Adelaide have obviously said to him, you will play round 1 next year, something we can't say to him without a coach

3) He was probably the best tall going around at Sandy this year, always looked poised and had time at Sandy.

4) This forum has alluded to attitude problems in the past, maybe he had a falling out with players or managers

5) Coin, security, with one year to go on his contract, what if he got injured this year - likelihood of delisting whereas, he probably signed a new 3 year deal and got a lot more money than cash-strapped saints can give him.

The fact he had 1 year to go on his contract, and that we gave him away so cheaply means there must be something else to it. Especially considering we are playing hardball with Walsh who is out of contract.

What I don't understand is that the Age are reporting that Sydney is happy to deal with Adelaide for Lewis Johnston in the negotiations for Armstrong. I would have been a little happier with Johnston as opposed to pick 37! Especially when the every supporter on here bags Lynch because he looked slow against, yep, Lewis Johnston.

Well why werent other clubs jumping in with better offers?
Facts are he has shown to be nowhere up to the task at AFL.

Heard a story about him when he was at year 12, used to think the sun shined out of his preverbial, they lost a cricket match to an underdog team and they refused to shake hands.

The bloke who told me coached the other team and told me a few yars ago, that we drafted one of the worst blokes going around.

I believe this arrogance lead to him being placed out there against Fletcher, with Ross Lyon proving a point to him.

That kick he had after the siren at half time in that game was so bad.

Even his u18 Champs Highlights footage looks very average, poor skill.

Farewell Ron Weasely.

Form at Sandy is a total waste of time....I am not even sure why we even have our players play there????

whilst we are at it.....the Form of Saad at Bullants this year was a waste of time.....and especially Milera...who played an even lower standard....

And Im not so sure he was that bad....Ross subbed him whenever he could....so his stats...whilst OK for a kids who has played under 10 games...were misleading...

6 goals in 5 games, found the ball OK, laid tackles....

Adelaide must have seen something....good luck to him....he will play CHB in the AFL in 2012...replacing Phil Davis

Just shows me exactly what I thought.Sorry but I cant remember Saad playing AFL footy this year. Pretty sure Lynch did and struggled. And if they think he can play a KP then they are dreaming pretty much like you. He may be tall enough but he isnt a KPP. He is a running half back. And a slow running one at that.

Lynch wanted to go

"Tom made us aware that he wanted to make the move to Adelaide and that was facilitated through this three way deal with the Crows and the Tigers."

Still defending.....

question
Was Lynch a poor draft pick....therefore a stuff up by those in charge of recruitng in 2008....was he poorly developed, therefore a stuff up by those in charge of development from 08-11....or a bad decision to trade, therefore a stuff up by those doing the trading atm....

either way the club has erred......

and after spending a lot of time and money developing a first round draft pick for three seasons.....what is the return on our investment
Pick 37 in the 2012 ND

Good work sainters....

least it isnt as bad as the return on our first round pick in 2009....the crown jewell in our drafting history

Drafting at anytime is still a risk - there are a number of top ten picks who have never amounted to anything - sure the science of drafting is getting better all the time but it is still at best an educated guess. There have been lot of champion juniors who did not perform as they matured and there are a few who were overlooked as juniors who have gone on and become very good players.

As for 2009 - he was drafted on his ability and a number of character references which apparently suggested he had his character in check. The fact that he as a person caused his demise outside of any actions on the field can't really be held up aginst those that selected him.

Yes you are. They advertised they were going live to 3pm but the live coverage stopped at 2pm.
