A Ruckman - Big Mac needs some support
Small/Quick forward/s - Milne wont be around forever
Speedy mids - we been chasing this for years

Someone should tell Pelchen we need quick medium forwards (of the 185cm -190cm variety) .. no more smalls unless they are lightning quick and highly skilled.

What about Johnson? Surely people have seen him play? Fast strong and can kick goals?? Could use him and siposs ?

I hope Siposs and Johnson will get more chances next year than Lyin gave them, although I think they may have both been injured this year

^ You'd think Pelchen has idenitfied who internally can fill our needs, with those two and Walsh all looking as good prospects for mid/kpp fwds.

We don't have a lot in the way of small forwards or speedy mids, and Stanley will never be a #1 ruckman in my opinion (fingers crossed macca stays healthy forever.)

Hopefully he can work his magic.

Sure, it's good to have Pelchen on board, but i think you underestimate RL's ability to pick up some good bargains. Sure, Gamble, Pattinson, C Gardiner have been failures, but take a look at this year's B & F. 3 of the top 7 (Dempster, Jones and Schneider) were picked up as recycled players - arguably only RL would have got these three to the club.

Sure, it's good to have Pelchen on board, but i think you underestimate RL's ability to pick up some good bargains. Sure, Gamble, Pattinson, C Gardiner have been failures, but take a look at this year's B & F. 3 of the top 7 (Dempster, Jones and Schneider) were picked up as recycled players - arguably only RL would have got these three to the club.

Jones arrived as a 22 y.o. via the 2006 Rookie Draft, the year before Lyon took over. He came from the WAFL, to my knowledge had never been listed by an AFL club, so wasn't recycled.

He was elevated at the end of 2007. Arguably Lyon helped transform him into an effective run with type. But, in this day and age I don't believe senior coaches like Lyon do much one on one work with individuals. I think that would fall to line and specialist coaches.

The Dempster and Schneider gets were v.good but I reckon familiarity played the major role in getting them. Remember Roos rang Lyon first to say they had to cut them due to Sydney's salary cap pressure. The deal got done on good old fashioned nepotism.

When Lyon had to construct higher profile deals without the nepotistic backroad route he lost Ball for naught and got Lovett.

I wouldn't call him successful in this field of endeavour.
