Back on topic.
Id like to see Harves/Watters as senior coach with Ayres in a mentor role.
You can say whatever you like about his previous go rounds but Ayres stint at Port Melbourne has been pretty impressive. Won 69 out of 89 games in 4 years including 21 games undefeated and a flag this year. Hard to top that.

How would you or any one of us know? I'd suggest that no-one on here would have the first clue on how good a coach he is. Unlike a player where we see them perform every week, coaches jobs are 95% done during the week where no-one outside the inner sanctum observes them.Ross who? wrote:

How many thought that Alistair Clarkson was a good appointment 6-7 years ago?

Put it this way. I want to be wrong. Please not Ayres for the senior coach though; he had his chances and never got to the top

Gary Ayres is all of a sudden so incredibly gifted as a coach that his failures at Cats and Crows is ignored???
IF Gary Ayres is such a fricken coaching gurur - why the ferk hasnt he been hounded for the last 4 coaching jobs that have been appointed? - he wasnt even in the mix for them..............but the goold old saints will provide the perfect fodder to kick start this guys career?
**** disaster IMHO - IF thats allright with some round here to have.
BTW - How long has Ayres been out of AFL????
Why wouldnt you go for a senior assistant who also has been at the forefront of the best club for the last few seasons????? and who is CURRENT???
Board changes are also a worry..but then you can almost hear the media "here goes the saints implosion.............Ross's call was justified.." FFS.

When Ayres name first came up I thought not a bad choice, these stats help solidify that.Hurricane wrote:Back on topic.

Yeah, Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, Adelaide and, of course, Freo must be kicking themselves they didn't wait for the VFL Premership to be decided!Spud wrote:When Ayres name first came up I thought not a bad choice, these stats help solidify that.Hurricane wrote:Back on topic.

If you mean October 14 2012 then yeh we should know by then? Maybe?Dr Spaceman wrote:Well it looks like another Friday has come and gone without the much anticipated announcement of Gary Ayres as our new coach.
Suppose we'll have to wait til 14th October
When Harvey played his first game in 1988, I was a 12yo wearing short pants and struggling with my readin', writin' and 'rithmetic in grade eight. Now, I'm a father of three and a retired AFL player. And he's still going. Amazing! - Michael Voss

This is a still from the new movie Face Off 2, starring Vin Cattogio and Gary Lyon. This is after Gary's face has been transplanted onto Vin's head.
Of course it could just be Gabriella Sabitini
