Did he say the same thing to Mick about not being in a job as he did to Thomas a few years back?

Malhouse in perth says nothing. 5hr flight. Coffee at 8am on plane by 10am talk at 4pm?

Ws it the same day? Bottom line is Mick is definately a chance for the job. My feeling, if he says yes the club will take him if not they will have a second choice.

We were happy to pay lyon 650k pa and we just received 8 mill from the AFL. MM would be worth around 800k pa. we could fork that out over a 3 year contract IMO.

Forget Malthouse.

We went out and got Tim Watson.

We went to Queensland and begged Malcolm Blight to get off the Golf Course and coach us.

After getting advise from Robert Walls, we ignored the applicants and convinced Ross Lyon to have a crack.

Can we just for once get someone who really, really, really wants to coach us?

How do you know MM doesn't really, really want the position. He was obviously bitter about the whole Bucks and Pies saga.

Look, I don't think we will get MM I'm just entertaining the idea. We don't know the facts.

Maybe. But all the reports coming out are that his family, and particularly his wife, want him to take a break from coaching. Perhaps permanently.

If he really, really, really, wants to coach us then he, or his Manager, can contact the St Kilda Football Club.

But don't court, woo or cajole him!

I'd be most surprised if he was at all interested in coaching next year. I listened intently to his half hour interview on ABC radio (720) yesterday with Gillian O'Shaunassey (it's pod cast so you can listen to it).

He appeared definite about not coaching. He said his management had fielded a few enquiries from AFL clubs about his availability in varous roles, but he told his manager he did not want to pursue such avenues, so had not had talks with any Club.

Asked if he was going to be working more in the media. He said that is one proposal that is being considered along with another totally different area to football. He said he really is uncertain on what direction he would take but he knows it is not in a coaching capacity at AFL. Said it was time for his family life to be considered first, seeing he is 58.......... or words to that effect.

Who knows if he was telling the truth or it was all a smoke screen...... but I had the feeling that MM has really pulled the plug out of any idea of coaching involvement. Then again I could be way off the mark!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree. If he's hired then he MUST really want the gig.

For me, there are too many positives for MM to be overlooked.

No hope and I agree with Doc.

IF MM wanted to coach the saints - Mick or your manager call the club and chase us. We have failed miserably in the past chasing a big name who was too tired to be bothered coaching us and it ends in tears.

MM knows where we are located - otherwise, get a keen as mustard, smart, young coach who can relate to the players and reinvigorate the club aka Scott at Cats. Have we learnt nothing?

I can confirm Malthouse/Milne were seen having coffee together and from friends on a nearby table the conversation went along the lines of:

Milne: "woth you think bout coathing the thaints Mickey?"
Malthouse - "what the f@rk did you just say?"
Milne: "you juth wait till I star with my Johnny Tapp impersonation"
Malthouse - "you trying to be funny.....Im a serious man.."
Milne: "slippery sally slides sea shells in the sand".

Malthouse: "waiter......check please..."

Fits with the rumour I've heard:

The rumour is that Malthouse has given Scott Watters a strong reference for the Saints job ... and Watters has been able to say that he has access to the services of MM as a kind of mentor for the next 12 months ... only in a part-time/casual capacity ... but nevertheless MM would have some involvement at the Saints ... keeping his finger on the pulse whilst enjoying a year off and some media work ... before the Tigers come begging in 12 months.

Interesting times ...

Something may well be happening, but Legendary's rumour IMO is the only one that has any merit in terms of MM having any involvement with the Saints.
