Lost a coach who put a gun to his head.
Recruited best recruiting guy in the business.
Finances were ass pounded by afl etihad deal. Whixh I admit is a serious issue.
Does not deserve his take home pay. But has one year to show his worth. After that he can f off.
Yes he was a better coach than Jeans.
Many people believe Jeans did not get the maximum result for the talent at his disposal.
Ross did.
And he lost a coach because he treated him like a commodity, and not a valued employee.
In the end he put a deal to Ross that Ross had wanted for months, but it was too late.....completely stuffed it up....and he had no back-up plan.
One thing when negotiating a better position is to have a fallback of strength, Nettlefold did not.
And if the finances are pounded by Etihad deal....whose job is to fix that???
Archie Fraser was arguably the worst administrator seen at AFL level, Nettlefold can now hold a candle with him.
And for him to also sit on the board is a complete disgrace.
At least we have a strong president in Greg "Right" Westaway!!!
He hasn't spoken to Ross Lyon in 2011.
Not sure why we just can't go and buy Brian Cook.
He would be earning less than Nettlefold, I know Greg Swan earns significantly less than Nettlefold.
What a joke we have become again.
Well time will tell if you are right.
I cant believe I used the expression "ass pounded" and got away with it.

You do realise that Jeans coached both the Sainst and the Hawks?
The Hawks in that period are argiably the best team in the history of the game?

Jeans started coaching the sainst when only 28...learning on the job.

Whereas Lyon had a solid apprenticeship at several clubs as an assistant first.

If you want to compare the two.

PREMIERSHIPS:
First coaching stint: 1 to Jeans , 0 to Lyon.

Second coaching stint.
3 (but really 4) to Jeans. ; ?? to Lyon.

PRECISELY!!!!!!!!!!

Michael "spirit of the contract" Nettlefold should be sacked immediately!

One **** up after another and now this clown is part of the coach selection committee!

Oh well at least we have that supermarket guy and Brads Johnson to advise on football matters....that should ensure a great outcome!
At least we have a strong president in Greg "Right" Westaway!!!
I detect sarcasm!

Biggest lame duck president in the history of the AFL surely!

These CLOWNS should be sacked immediately!

Barks....correct detection of sarcasm!
Would it shock you if I told you Greg Ghostaway had not spoken to Ross Lyon on the phone or one on one for 6 months for 2011, aside from the obligatory presentations that Ross gave the board on a monthly basis??
Just staggering behaviour.

Nothing surprises me with these dingbats running the club!

They are asleep at the wheel 24/7

We hardly ever hear Westaway say anything........ but that's actually a really good thing!

What a ****** embarrassment this joke of a president is.

When the club turns into the next Port Adelaide sometime this decade it will be wholly and solely a net result of the buffoonery these clueless goofballs have inflicted!

Buddy the 'supermarket guy' as you called, have you looked at his CV??!! Obviously not!
He spent two years as CEO of Celtic plc, the listed company controlling Celtic Football Club and is a Non-Executive Director of the Fulham Football Club. Since moving to Australia, Ian has become a Board Director of Melbourne Victory and now joins the Saints.

His accomplishments this year:

1) oversaw the best coach we have had leave for another club.
2) oversaw the best fitness guy in the caper leave for another club.
3) oversaw a $2million loss.

For this he took home a salary of $750,000.

You are too easy to please!!

He is an ego maniac and has caused us huge problems that will surface over the next 3-5 years.

I thought we could not go worse than Archie Fraser or Brian Waldron.

Unfortunately I might be wrong.

How hard is it to get a good CEO, particularly with that budget??

FFS :(

Ballbanger no he is not one of he nicest guys in football.
Nice guys finish last anyway.
However he is an ego driven bloke, who had a few non-negotiables he had to deliver in his role as CEO this year.
He failed at every one of them.
Please also tell me another AFL club that has the CEO also sitting on their board as a Director??
We need a ruthless go-getter in the role.
A motivated hungry individual that will put the club before himself.

For a laugh or a cry I ask everyone to revisit this interview with our CEO a few days before Ross quit the club.

Exactly;

The ongoing war between St Kilda FC and the combination of The Herald-Sun & The Nine Network (real or perceived) needs to be sorted out as a matter of priority !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Yep, a number of posters here jump up and down and the opinions in the media become their own without them actually thinking about it.
The first reactions to Lyins departure were a classic example, the first comments that are made by the some pathetic journos are that it is stkilda of 85 all over again, well its not.
We were going through the same process as other clubs, only Lyin did the dirty on us. I am glad that we did not sign him up for 4 years on the dollars he wanted, that would have been madness.

And I am stillwaiting for the apoligies from that s*** newspaper over the hs craptorial over the stkilda schoolgirl garbage, .

Forgive my spelling, this subject makes me mad

$650,000 a year

I reckon that was a bargain price for a coach generally regarded as one of the best going around!

Surely you jest!
