Nettlefold is winning me back

Post: # 1156125Post asaint »

I was not impressed with his appearance on talking footy. He said nothing and I wondered why he went on. I was looking for an emphatic assurance that Ross would be our coach in 2012. When Lying Lyon walked , I wanted the club to show anger , but they did not, they were gracious. In hindsight I think they handled the situation very well. Nettlefold has won me over on 2 points. The first was when he came out and said that Robert Harvey stays at the saints regardless of the coaching appointment. Really pleased by this as I would be horrified if we treated the great harvs with anything but respect. The second is the statement that we will be not trading any of our stars and he has contacted them to tell them that. I am sooo sick of the Goddard speculation. Why would we trade a known star for an unknown 18year old? That would be just dumb.
I am not pessimistic re our chances next year, a new coach may be just what is needed.

Mate

His accomplishments this year:

1) oversaw the best coach we have had leave for another club.
2) oversaw the best fitness guy in the caper leave for another club.
3) oversaw a $2million loss.

For this he took home a salary of $750,000.

You are too easy to please!!

He is an ego maniac and has caused us huge problems that will surface over the next 3-5 years.

I thought we could not go worse than Archie Fraser or Brian Waldron.

Unfortunately I might be wrong.

How hard is it to get a good CEO, particularly with that budget??

FFS :(

I don't think he's done a bad job of highlighting the financial issues with playing at Etihad Stadium - probably the number one issue that he needs to get a result on.

I question our fitness staff when I see someone like Ball turn it around like he has. I question the previous coach when he fails to play the "up-and-coming" youth on our list - and continually played Dawson in defense (with the exception of one stint up forward when things were looking even direr for him). I regularly questioned our boring, mundane game plan. I question whether Lyon was a "people person" as he seemingly appeared to rub people up the wrong way (players and coaching staff)

I don't question the board on their lack luster pandering to Lyon, because I believe they were happy enough to see a change in direction.

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

Get over it!

Ultimately, to players, coaches and other staff, the St Kilda football club is an employer and like any other business, employees will leave for other workplaces, whether for money, greater opportunity or just because they can.

It doesnt mean the end of the world!

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

He obviously has no idea -we have been complaining about the standard of our recruiting and development under Lyon and he goes and hires a guy who has some of the best credentials in that area available. Absolute disgrace and how much do we pay him? That must be our total footy department spend.

Lost a coach who put a gun to his head.
Recruited best recruiting guy in the business.
Finances were ass pounded by afl etihad deal. Whixh I admit is a serious issue.

Yes he was a better coach than Jeans.
Many people believe Jeans did not get the maximum result for the talent at his disposal.
Ross did.
And he lost a coach because he treated him like a commodity, and not a valued employee.
In the end he put a deal to Ross that Ross had wanted for months, but it was too late.....completely stuffed it up....and he had no back-up plan.
One thing when negotiating a better position is to have a fallback of strength, Nettlefold did not.
And if the finances are pounded by Etihad deal....whose job is to fix that???
Archie Fraser was arguably the worst administrator seen at AFL level, Nettlefold can now hold a candle with him.
And for him to also sit on the board is a complete disgrace.
At least we have a strong president in Greg "Right" Westaway!!!
He hasn't spoken to Ross Lyon in 2011.
Not sure why we just can't go and buy Brian Cook.
He would be earning less than Nettlefold, I know Greg Swan earns significantly less than Nettlefold.
What a joke we have become again.
