when did the Cynicism and sarcasm?

Post: # 1151177Post saintbrat »

replace optimism and trust.. :?:
why is that every word spoken by those that do know...... is mistrusted

but words written by annonymous usernames from unidentified sauces becomes fact and must happen.

is it the digital era and the over abundance of information and the ability to get the false message out there faster than the truth....

Yep, I think it's that last bit.

And the sarcastic cynical stuff seems to bite more than the good stuff. Probably why the likes of Patrick Smith can make a career out of writing such stuff!

Answer: The Internet.

Any ratbag can have an opinion and not have to actually face people to argue it. Therefore, facts become irrelevant and civility no longer necessary. Just what the outcome will be is a bit early to tell. Could be a while.

Best example today is climate change. It is a fact and having an opinion on it does not change the fact.

Doesn't mean that we should't leave the planet in the same condition that we found it.

But how much do we effect the climate?

Or, how much are we forced to believe by naive governments?

Or agenda setting businesses that profit out of the climate change myth?

That's where the Internet is really dodgy.

In a way, it can be used as a form of clever and legal spam.

there are a thousand times as many vested interests who profit from no climate change action. not sure your argument holds.
