I think his last 4 years tells us what is wrong with his resume.
I disagree. His record is too good to ignore. He should seriously be considerd for the Sandy coaching job.

Does that mean he isn't now?
How he went all those years ago means pretty much f***-all to us. All that matters is how he would go with us now. This may just be his time. Or it may not.
I hope those who are making this choice aren't stupid enough to have a closed mind and preconceived ideas about anyone.

Id be pretty sure it isnt based on us morons otherwise we would have 30 coaches next year and 7 players.

Nothing to embarrassed about....

Pointing out that the greatest coaches in the history of the game had poor periods....and then regenerated...

Matthews had a poor end at collingwood after taking them to glory, called it a day, missed 4 years, returned and won 3 premierships....

Parkin had several low periods......man could seriously coach

Barassi showed that even the greatest coach cant deliver with rubbish

Ayres has coached at over 50% after 10 years....not a poor record....and got a team into the big one...
Best coach in the vfl
Followed by
Gotch and fitzgerald
German is ok

I dont watch the VFL and would like to know what brand of footy port play. That would have a big say in how he should be percieved as a candidate.

What was Grant Thomas's resume like?

It'd be cool if the club signed him up and instead of a hat with our membership we all got a Gary Ayres style hair doo wig that we could all wear....

Would definitely take him as a senior assistant/director of coaching ... not sure about head coach but he looks to have improved greatly since leaving the Crows ...

I didnt quote you so i was obviously talking to myself. I have no idea who is right or wrong in RL leaving and as such I dont think I have commented once on the rights or wrongs.

I am a great believer in giving people a second chance because they have plenty to prove. If the selection process finds him the preferred candidate, I say give him a second chance.

I think you mean me. I have plenty and express them as I have today but when people like you come on here and dress opinions up as fact luckily there a few who are smart enough to put you back in that little box you came out of. What would I know at all about the reasons of RL leaving? I am not involved with the club. Maybe you are and I have you wrong but I doubt you are now. They would have replaced someone like you.

Or are you just regurgitating crap lines

You made a nonsense reply.....was that a fact dressed up, or an opinion???
Explain the difference.....

You dont know me, so you cant comment on me.....you dont have all the facts....

And who is smart enough.....are you making that call....are you able to judge everyone's intelligence now.....

You seem to speculate more than you think......and about people you never met....

But cannot speculate on issues in the public arena, and well reported events...generally because you dont want to believe negatives....

You cant even agree to obvious hindsight errors......

BTW.....the bloke who labelled you a knob before.....i am going to state the FACT that he is smart.....with 75% of other posters that get sick of your smug ramblings and devils advocate bulls***....

Didnt you read all the posts about your crap the other day or do you have a short term memory issue? The bloke who said I was a knob before was you and even if others said it why would I care. And who said I cant agree with hindsight errors? I just point out out morons who mention them. You are really one stange cat. And what did you say was your job again. I thought it was a school teacher? Very strange and getting weirder by the post.

Speaking of VFL, surely we can pick up some middle aged "ready" recruits around 22-25 yr olds.

A medium sized forward that can take a mark, maybe a quick winger, and a defender or whoever's best bang for buck.

As of the start of the week the board hadn't spoken to Ayres and as far as I know wasn't considering him (things can change of course).

You know I often wonder whether you two are in fact one person just making some kind of merry....

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Comic store guy comes to mind......possibly taller if you fell over...

Old, pompous......unfulfilled and unhappy man ...... But thats just my impression

Me, im pretty happy with where im at..... In most facets.... So your critique of me, carries little weight....

Said it on another thread.

Have heard, from a usually reliable source with links to the club that he is

under serious consideration for a coaching role in some capacity.

Obviously waiting till this weekend is over before starting talks, but the

feelers have been put out apparently.
