Sorry if this have already been mentioned but I couldn't see it..

Reported on SEN today that Gary Ayres is VERY interested in being our senior coach and is more than happy to take a phone call from the club

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't he coach the Borough and they have have not lost a game all year and are playing the GF this weekend !!

Not sure what I think, smokey maybe?

Thoughts ?

Why not? otherwise you have to to name a coach who is guaranteed to get us a premiership, and nothing is guaranteed, so any coach who is successful at AFL or VFL level, is as good a chance as any. Just because some one is a highy regarded assistant means nothing until they hold up a premiership cup.

I doubt Conan could get the Gilbert's, Dawson's, Clarkes, Gram's, and Geary's up and about...

I wouldn't rule him out. If he ends up being the best person for the job then we should go for it

Why would they laugh in his face? if he puts his hand up he will be looked at, if hes the best man for the job he will get it.

Don't live in melbourne, so forgive me if this question has an obvious answer.

Does his team at the moment have any gun players that might be worth a look in as mature agers? If picking him up gives us more chance of a couple of barlows or j-pods then the idea might not be as ridiculous as first thought..

He would at least be very cheap. We could get him for around $350K easy and it would be a cheap pay out. :P

I think his last 4 years tells us what is wrong with his resume.

The guy was shafted big time by the crows. He's been my sneaky and wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he got the gig.

Do we judge kevin sheedy on his last 4 years??

What about Leigh matthew?? Twice....

Dennis Pagan??

What about Dave Parkins final years??

Perhaps Ron Barassi

Final years are often poor....hence the moving on

Ayres would be my 4th choice

Scott Watters.....what has his last 4 years achieved?? Who does he coach??
Thats right, he's a line coach.....one of 10 at collingwood

I wouldn't have a problem with us appointing Ayres if they consider him to be the best option. He would have learned plenty in the years since he was last coaching an AFL team and may be at the peak of his coaching powers right now.

My point exactly!
Plus he was never a top line, A grade coach that all the other clubs were falling over themselves for.
