Yes let's back the Board to the hilt.

With a talented team coming off double grand final appearances they have managed to just lose a mere $1.5m and one coach.

The board have made mistakes it's true, and are not beyond criticism, and I'm NOT saying that they should not be criticised. Let's get one thing quite straight I am no "apologist" for the board, however, when outsiders like the media start making Lyon a "victim of board incompetence" rather than being the snide he turned out to be, then rather than coming on here calling for a spill of the board and complying with the popular image of us held by our opponents, I prefer to give support to the board in trying to get us through this period. This board are far from perfect, they are learning as they go in some senses, but I have faith that the club will ultimately not only survive this issue but will actually get stronger in the process!

AND what makes you so sure it was not incompetence from the board to begin with that caused the issues that eventually saw Lyon depart?

It's Nettlefold who works there every day. It's his hands that are on the steering wheel of the day-to-day running of the Club.

That's not a bad starting point for a few hard questions.

The Board though, carries the ultimate responsibility.

So no star player will want to train at Seaford, maybe live down on the Peninsula in a nice house overlooking the bay, easy 20 minute drive up the new Pennisula freeway to training in one of the best training facilities in the comp, yeah sounds real uninviting.
Obviously driving to the Airport everyday would be more attractive, or training in the middle of a housing estate is better.
Ever heard of the Green Bay Packers, one of the most successful NFL franchises, play in an out of the way smallish city of Green Bay, yet the players who come there from big time cities like Philadelphia, New York love it there because they can walk around the community like every one else.
Most of them even get paid less than there big time city counterparts, but they love it there because of the lifestyle.
Seaford will not be a problem in the long run, players will adapt.
Oh, and if we are winning games players are going to want to come to.

Al this yelling....

oh dear....

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

I know!!!! Putting me off me all-bran
By the way, IF I were to go along with the notion of dismissing the board, I would like the small  matter of WHO replaces them to be there clearly before me! Otherwise its just empty posturing!
As I asked before, but will now repeat (in the hope of some answers)
WHO do we propose as President? CEO? Board members? and Senior Coach?
I know, mere details  but indulge an old man
NAMES please!!!!

Sorry, I normally don't yell, but when I'm being yelled at to sack the board, I'd like to know who the proposed replacements would be.
Otherwise, I'm just bored with all the capitals.

I must say, I'm also a little concerned and not convinced by sugar coating. I'm curious to know what Roos was talking about.

I've always sincerely respected your positive perspective Jigging, however I think there has to be some hard questions asked of the Board. I share most of B4E's concerns. The fact that the Board took a decision to relocate after 3 weeks in Office, after not mentioning it prior to election, is of HUGE concern and a tad dodgy. I also think the failure of the Club to lock Lyon (probably the best coach in the business) away a long time ago, either means that they did not want him or are incompetent. I'd like to know why Roos felt that Lyon's position was untenable? I fear that a monumental stuff up has occurred, I really hope I'm wrong, but I have deep fears. As for the Coach selection committee, where on earth is a Coach????

butterss-rolled Like it! most amusing!!!! Footy First were elected when Rod Butterss and the board saw that the overwhelming majority of members would be supporting the Footy First slate. This current board were put in office by a landslide (whether or not some on here want to accept it or not) The move to Seaford has only been an issue during this past year/18 months as far as I can tell. If folks have real concerns with this board then we have a clear way to do this by going through the channels of the AGM or an extraordinary General meeting. For now, in the absence of an alternative, I'm backing the board, but will question my concerns at the AGM if I feel it needs to be done. Screaming for the board to be sacked on a fan forum without showing a clear viable alternative achieves very little I'm afraid (other than to give comfort to our opponents who browse the site)

Moorabbin man, I'm not 100% certain that Lyon is "the best coach in the business" I'm not sure that you can put him ahead of Malthouse or Thompson (both of whom outcoached him in grand finals) I'm not sure either if you would be so concerned about "retaining his services" if we had continued that rich vein of form from round 1-10!

"I think pondering about those sort of things is irrelevant for us at this point."

You might think you have a very relevant point, worthy of consideration and further exploration, but you're wrong, everything is going great....
