I think Balls form has everything to do with the type of players his playing with and much less to do with any "conditioning".

 No, no-one's said (until now), because it's complete garbage, even with the 'managable' caveat included.
I think we clearly have had the best run with managable injuries in the last 3 years. Name all these games we have lost with regular players in the last 3 years. Bugger all compared to many clubs if not all clubs.
Just to fan the flames a bit, it could be argued that had he been able to get Luke Ball as fit as Collingwood's guy did, we'd all be in a totally different frame of mind right now.

I'm not bagging him, cause I don't really know anything about him. But regardless of who's been in charge and why they happened - we've had unfit players going into Grand Finals, and lost key players to big injuries for 2 straight years.
You may be right on Ball but you cannot blame those other injuries in Misson.
And didn't roo do his adductor at training on the eve of the GF?

But I'm not blaming him or trying to discredit him at all, I'm trying to point out that no matter good these guys are, injuries still happen.

St Kilda chief executive Michael Nettlefold said Lyon didn't offer any explanation for his decision when the pair met late on Thursday, and Nettlefold has no plans to pursue the matter any further.

"We haven't had any discussion with Ross about any of the reasons at this point," Nettlefold told reporters at Seaford on Friday.

Jeepers. I would've thought that given the opportunity to 'exit interview' someone who'd been in a senior role at the club for five years you'd ask him why he moved on. If he says he didn't like the biscuits in the kitchen then all well and good but he may also bring up some issues that need to be addressed.
Yet I'm quite sure Paul Roos in On The Couch on Monday said "I'd be very surprised if Nettlefold didn't know exactly why Ross Lyon was leaving....'

Edit I just heard that interview again

This says nothing, you dork. It's an opinion. In my opinion, re-building a castle on smoking ruins is a bad way to go about it, not everything in this club is stuffed...assistant coaches come and go every year - like last year.

Are the board going to make some sort of statement in the near future ?

Makes for an interesting AGM...might go to that one.

Nettlefold knows exactly why!

His answers quoted in the press are disingenuous at best and indicative of the spin and smoke and mirrors game this board feebly attempt to play to hide their incompetence.

His appearance on FC was a PR spin exercise that backfired.

losing Misson I would argue is probably a bigger loss than losing Lyon. Has done exceptionally well at getting our team fit and on the park. Only have to look back at the GT era with the knuckleheads he had at the time to see the difference. We played 2004 and 2005 prelims with lots of decent talent sidelined with soft tissue injuries. Hope we can snag someone decent to replace him - Not looking forward to seeing a long injury list again.

A lot of our soft tissue injuries came about because we played young guys more than their bodies could handle. Add to that the fact that Ross and others sacked all the injury prone players. Xavier Clarke, Goose, max, Aaron Hamill all went- in those guys a good deal of injuries left the list.

There is one great year we 09 where we had very few injuries but they returned anyway. Teams like melbourne and Freo are picking over our carcass at the moment, but we will get through it and replace these people and get back on with the job.

We have one of the worst kicking efficiency ratios in the league.

This was because Misson limited the kicking sessions to protect players from soft tissue injuries.

So we wound up with a team of blokes with superbly conditioned calves and thighs who couldn't hit the side of a barn from 20 metres!!

I'm sure Ledger, Stanley and a few of the younger recruits that have struggled to get on the park agree with you

Cmon Sainterman spill the beans???

If you were so desperate to unseat the current board wouldn't telling everybody what you know actually help your cause??

What is your reason behind big noting and boasting about "what you know"

Is it a power thing?? or .... Are you worried that your sources are unreliable??

Nothing worse than someone who big notes about what they know but can't tell - seriously either fess up or shut up!!!
Look, I don't think I have ever been one to inflame anything on this board or to big note. Occasionally I might drop something I hear but never anything that might destabilise or cause the club angst. In fact I am careful about what I write if I am fortunate enough to hear things.

what a load of poof. where we are is finishing in the finals after the recession we had to have.

Ahh Barks, Westaway took over at the end of 2006 after we had made the finals, sacked Thomas and appointed Lyon.
It wasn't a knee jerk reaction to not making the finals in 07.
Plus, someone with a clue? who is that, where is that magical person who lead this club to Nirvana and beyond, your big on sack the board but don't have a clue who would replace them, fact is the replacement could be worse than the current one.
During this board's tenure we have made the finals 4 years in a row, played off fo rtwo premierships, the only board to have done better we're the ones in place in 1966.
Also before this year we we're making healthy profits.
When the annual report comes out there will be some mitigating reason why the loss this year despite the record membership and still good crowds.
As for Seaford, yeah it will be a disaster like Hawthorn moving Waverley Park and Essendon to Tullamarine. If it we're me I'd much rather Seaford than the city or St.Kilda, less traffic, far easier parking and probably cleaner air.
Plus guess what, as I stated before the next generation of players will buy or reside in houses down in that area, so in 5 years time it will not be a problem.
I don't hear the players complaining about the actual facilities there which appear to be one of the best in the comp, and the cost of building the place, may just be the reason for this year's loss.
Misson's gone, well he always going to leave sometime, but hey unlike your prediction he didn't follow Ross, he wemt to Melbourne, probably because their new coach made him a really good offer and he wants a new challenge.
What happens now, is what will determine the quality of this board, if they get a good caoch that revitalises this team, I hear we are also chasing Maxie to come back as defensive coach, and they do something no St.Kilda side has done in the past and make the finals 5 years in a row, then they are a good board.
If they blow it, then I'm sure we may find a new ticket of well meaning business connected supporters mount a challenge.
For me, and I've followed this team since almost the day I landed in this country in September 1965, I'm willing to give them more time, because so far, they are the second best board in the history of this club.

Mate, no problem. You can choose to think however you want as will I.

Can't tell you anything about what RL thinks as don't have anything to do with him at a personal level.

Anyway, not going to make much of a difference what gets written on here. Have been open with both what I know and what my opinion is, if you don't like it no problem with that from my end.

Amazing now that when very good coaches/staff leave the club they are now no good. Quite funny. Dave will be a big loss, very big loss.
