New Coach Predictions
Over the course of the week following the GF and the Filth celebrating back-to-back Premierships, I believe the club will acquire the services of one Michael Malthouse.
I didn't believe it to be possible at first, but as time goes on the inconceivable is becoming the believable
Who is your prediction?

I believe the club will attempt to entice Malthouse to coach. Robert, is not the right person and the club will not give him the role.

I think that MM is almost an impossibility - the Club is not in a position "to challenge," he wouldn't want the drama, lack of a decent infrastructure (compared to Pies), travel to seaford, the money - but if he wanted the job, the money wouldn't matter.
Player reaction ??? They may not have a say, but will have to work with him, but some may walk.
We need an experienced coach - it's Williams for me. Not Bailey, Eade, or Craig. Of the others, the best candidate.

I dont think we can get MM because of his contract with Pies.Junction Oval wrote:I think that MM is almost an impossibility - the Club is not in a position "to challenge," he wouldn't want the drama, lack of a decent infrastructure (compared to Pies), travel to seaford, the money - but if he wanted the job, the money wouldn't matter.

But do you seriously believe any player would "walk" if we got MM?
That is just laughable. Id say 90% of the playing group would be pumped. The other 10% would get on with it and be open minded and very least professional.
These are fully professional blokes we are talking about. Its not a kick around at the local park.
In any case - where would they walk to?

You're right: if he wanted the job, the money wouldn't matter.Junction Oval wrote:I think that MM is almost an impossibility - the Club is not in a position "to challenge," he wouldn't want the drama, lack of a decent infrastructure (compared to Pies), travel to seaford, the money - but if he wanted the job, the money wouldn't matter.
And, you know what, I don't reckon the Collingwood contract would matter that much either.
When you look at it, what would really be the point of Collingwood seriously trying to stop Mick from coaching at any other club when he finishes with them? What would it really achieve other than to make Eddie and his club look mean and nasty?
Say Mick really does want to finish his career at our club, the club where he once played and who have just been robbed of our current coach by a move that the whole AFL world seems to think was tricky and underhanded. Eddie's already copped a bit of flack in the media about the contract as things stand and if he insists on enforcing it to prevent Mick coming to a club like ours which is seen as struggling at the moment (ie, not Carlton or Essendon or Geelong or Hawthorn) I reckon the media and Demetriou and everyone else involved in AFL would turn on Eddie big time? And does he really need the grief? Does he really need to look as if he doesn't have enough confidence in Buckley and his playing list to deliver when Collingwood plays us in future?
So, when push comes to shove, I reckon Collingwood would be prepared to back down about the matter for some sort of settlement.
So I would be inclined to think that the only thing seriously stopping Mick from coming to coach us next year would be Mick himself: would he really want to?

1. Choco Williams
2. Scott Watters
3. Hinkley
As much as I respect Rob Harvey I have reservations about him being senior coach at this point in time. Perhaps in the future but I do not believe he is ready now.
I do not want Eades (lack of game plan), Mark Harvey (he turned us down previously), Roos (read his comments today), Bailey (not good enough for Melbourne), Laidley (please god NEVER), Craig (game plan).
Malthouse I am unsure of for a number of reasons
