laidley told the Age he wasnt interested
What type of coach is needed? Clearly, a developer of young players is the ticket, which probably pushes Rodney Eade out of the equation. Eade perhaps would not be interested anyway, just like Dean Laidley, who told The Age yesterday he would not be a candidate.

Hmmm, makes you wonder now Dave is going there...Spinner wrote:With all due respect.... Kim was probably a lot closer than we all think.
I gave it to them, but after last Thursday he was more on the money than not.
I've heard that Ross had all but accepted the Melbourne job on the Wednesday.... with Freo making a counter offer with the night to think about it.
Melbourne never made an offer, they never even got to that stage.Spinner wrote:With all due respect.... Kim was probably a lot closer than we all think.

And so they should be talking to Eade. I really don't understand all the vitriol directed towards him on this forum. He is an experienced coach who has achieved considerable success and, best of all, has coached in two distinctly different styles at the Swans and the Dogs, which shows that he is adaptable.thequarry wrote:Eade has been spoken to (but that would be half-expected anyway), don't think Laidley is being considered as far as I know ("good source", you know the drill).
He probably isn't our best option, but I would have him third behind 1. Malthouse and 2. a gun assistant coach (the problem with the latter option is that you can't be 100% sure that they guy you got is a gun).
Lots and lots of blather about Williams, but I reckon the guy is a bit of a dropkick. Sure he won a premiership and Eade didn't, but he had a much better lineup of talent than Eade has ever been given to coach and he still only won one.
