Malthouse is the best coach going around, so love him or hate him, if he wanted to come down I have no issues -he would probably see it as personal challenge and do it with more passion than the back-door man did. Having said that, I would love a Saint to get the job, and get the ultimate prize....edit I just remembered Malthouse was a Sainter originally)

He's coaching a stand alone team in the VFL in Port Melbourne and will probably win the flag with them. Not bad for a cabbage I guess.Teflon wrote:I can NOT believe anyone is putting Ayres name fwd seriouisly...only Brereton rates him at Hawks they laughed,,,,,and some reckon we should grab him?prwilkinson wrote:Gary Ayres deserves another crack at AFL level.... The only time Neil Craig was a good coach was when he was playing with Gary Ayre's team... Gary just didn't get to enjoy the fruits of his labour in Adelaide.
Either that or Tudor or SOS. They both already know the list really well...
hes a cabbage.

I heard from a usually reliable source(knows family members of Saints admin staffer) that G.Ayres is being seriously considered.Teflon wrote:I can NOT believe anyone is putting Ayres name fwd seriouisly...only Brereton rates him at Hawks they laughed,,,,,and some reckon we should grab him?prwilkinson wrote:Gary Ayres deserves another crack at AFL level.... Looks like Sanderson will coach the Croweaters.

For the Saints, my updated list now would be Richardson, Watters, Burns and maybe Cameron and Rob Harvey.

Rumour is that Brenton Sanderson has been appointed Adelaide coach.
This means Scott Burns is back in the mix.

Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

I agree clarky, whilst we can be a little more patient, it would be better if we can appoint a coach sooner rather than later, preferably before the draft. When would preseason start?clarky449 wrote:Well not really, would love the right coach to be picked before Trade.Beno88 wrote:Sanderson now out of the running and St.Kilda can take their time.
I love this club

With Sanderson going to the dogs and McCartney going to Adelaide, I really don't think that the available pool has been diminished at all.
For mine, Leigh Tudor is probably the best out of the bunch. Success has followed him wherever he has gone.
That said, I dont even know if he is throwing his hat in the ring. Plumb job @ GWS that probably comes with big dollars.
Regardless, this change will be good.

"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....

I think Leigh Tudor is assistant at the Swans - not GWS
Still reckon Watters and Richardson are the best 2 available.

Long apprenticeship has got to be the key, like most industries, the more experience across different conditions the better prepared you are.dartos wrote:Ken Hinkley...long apprenticeship, has been with St Kilda (For a short time), has had success in minor leagues.
Lyon, Clarkson, Hardwick, Scottx2 & now Neeld, Sanderson & McCartney, really does seem like the trend

Everyone writing him off too early imo. Fans trying to be too impartial. He may go ok. We know Ross is a control freak and his assistants have found him difficult to work with. He could have inhibited Harves' coaching style.saintbrat wrote:Harves has declared his interest- OWAAT on entering the AA awards
