Harvey's contract not renewed does not mean he was a rubbish asst coach.....Megsie wrote:thought Harves was moved on by carlton along with others.
Carlton also released Montgomery and Lappin - (Teague had a P/T role as North Bullants coach and sought a F/T coaching job) where are they now, were they discarded to the footy scrapheap?
Harvey went to last year's runner up
Teague is asst coach at WCE
Montgomery was in the mix for the Port job and is now asst at WB
Lappin went to last year's premiers
Every year there is a merry go round of assistants changing clubs, some of these guys like Barker, Montgomery, Richardson and Wellman are quite young, yet have been to 2-3 clubs at least..

If you look at what Scott did at Geelong; came in, said he liked 90% of what they did, worked on improving the 10% he didn't like... absolutely regenerated them. A coach well picked. If our board is worth its salt, it will seek a coach not through a paradigm of experience or premierships won, but a coach like Scott - come in, recognise the team is quite good, identify 10% he doesn't like, and have the skills to fix it. Appointment by quality, rather than credentials. The board did well to appoint RL. Hopefully this one is as effective.

Not sure about this, if someone walks in and tells us that 90% of what we do is good we'd be mad to believe them.groupie1 wrote:If you look at what Scott did at Geelong; came in, said he liked 90% of what they did, worked on improving the 10% he didn't like... absolutely regenerated them. 50% of our list is shot - that is the problem…
This is what happened at Essendon, Knights told the board that they weren't too far off a flag, Hardwick told them he thought they needed a pretty serious re-build and it was going to take time… Knights got the job and the best they have done is 8th (twice).
It's a bit different for Geelong who have played in 3 GF's, 2 flags and single-handedly forced the father-son rule to be changed, their list is healthy and that is the main thing.
