"Melbourne has confirmed that respected Collingwood assistant coach Mark Neeld will coach the club in 2012.
It is the first AFL head coaching job for Neeld, who has spent the last five years under Mick Malthouse at the Magpies.
He will replace caretaker coach Todd Viney, who took the reins of the struggling Demons after Dean Bailey was sacked late in the season.
The Dees finished 13th after a rollercoaster season which continued when star midfielder Tom Scully signed with Greater Western Sydney earlier this week.
More to follow."
So I guess that rules him out as an option for us....

and the manner of his appointment in regards to those they let know and alerted last evening was in direct opposite to what Freo did.

This coaching merry-go-round is a real circus and is having a detrimental impact on the integrity of the competition :
- Sacking Coaches before their contracts finish.
- "Raiding" other Clubs.
- Paying out coaches and then claiming that they need AFL financial support.
- Over-inflated coaching salaries, at a time when most Clubs are struggling financially.
The AFL is now a dog-eat-dog world - at any cost! The problem is that only the top 6 Clubs will have any hope of staying at the top - similar to UK Soccer. If it goes that way, the competition will be in serious long term trouble.
