Lyon v Ball - who's worse????
Interesting scenario and not sure if it has been floated already.
No doubt it has been.
Thoughts?

Sing it loud and sing it proud but most of all hang around for this club will rise to claim the prize and then we will realise its not such a surprise.

A coach I reckon tops any player doing the dirty and that includes one of our other biggest turn coats in Joel Smith!

I don't know what "worse" means.
What I would say is that they were clearly attracted to their new clubs by "pull" factors in terms of more $$$ (or, in Ball's case, perhaps only around the same $$$ over the life of the contract, but more of it more quickly).
But I think the "push" factors were far stronger with Ball (although, to be fair, who really knows how pissed off Lyon was about the appointment of p
Pelchen?)

Lyon = CLINT
ross was always a prick, but we wanted a flag. ross didn't deserve one. prick.

No Contract, No contact
What, both leaving their jobs for more money......how dare they....
Lyon more opportunity for success.....
Bal for more opportunity period....
Bally was a premiership player in one year and finished fifth in a b and f.,......his decision vindicated
If lyon wins a flag at freo....so will his decision be vindicated
Its a brutal business.....you snooze you lose

I dunno. How do you separate two money-grabbing, selfish traitors?

Re: Lyon v Ball - who's worse????
Ball was effectively forced out. Lyon's midfield policy demanded that all mids run for 50% of time on ground. Ball couldn't do it. Was in mid 40's. That's why he was dropped in the first place and Lyon demanded that he be able to do it. Ball couldn't. So instead of seeing the benefits of Ball apart from that, Lyon was inflexible about it. No compromise. So Ball went somewhere his talents are appreciated. And they pay him more.bigcarl wrote:I dunno. How do you separate two money-grabbing, selfish traitors?

Interesting if that's how it unfolded.st.byron wrote:Ball was effectively forced out. Lyon's midfield policy demanded that all mids run for 50% of time on ground. Ball couldn't do it. Ross is extremely inflexible and stubborn, that much I know to be true. And his inability to bend even a little cost us.
No imagination and treated his men like robots. Thank heavens we're going to get some fresh ideas.

How many of you still believe Lyon's story that Ball was left on the bench for most of the second half of the 2009 GF due to a stuff- up by the guy managing the bench?
Anyone?
I'm waiting.....?
Speak up, I can't hear you......?

I'll never forgive Bail for walking out on us and refusing to talk to any club bar the filth.
If he had been happy to go anywhere we could have done a good deal from a position of strength. As he would only go to the filth, they ended up in the position of strength.
Lyon was our coach, he's not anymore, I'm indifferent to him.

Which defection was more decietful??
Ball had every right to go.....he was on the outer from the coach...
So much so that ross preferred to risk losing a gf than give luke a go in the second half...
If i were ball, i would have walked because of ross.....and stated as such....and i would have visited him tje day after the grand final wearing my medal, delivering him the paper...open to the best players page
But luckily luke has more class than me...
