Eat s*** Ross and take that blonde kid who cant kick with you. maybe then some our good players will get a game!

So B4E, you're saying from now on it is standard retention practise to re-sign in-demand staff whilst there is still two years to run on their contracts, despite the fact that those contracts appear to have less value than the paper they're printed on?
For what it's worth, I would have had RL stay and serve out his 3 months. Appoint a new coach, ban RL from any sensitive meetings etc, and have him do office filing whilst serving out his 3 months notice period.
Do your Freo pre-season under those circumstances you traitor......

THIS..markp wrote:What choice did he have but to 'agree' if that was the clubs call?.... seems what he is saying is that's not what he wanted, and if true, that's likely the sticking and tipping point right there.fingers wrote:Crap - if 2 parties agree to leave it to season end - then that IS the deal.markp wrote:Yep, that's it in a nutshell.chook23 wrote:Inportant comment by Lyon

WHACK
To be honest he was probably insulted that after taking the club to two consecutive GF's when in our whole clubs existence we had only played in 5 of them, that the club still wasn't convinced on his abilities. I reckon he should have been signed on straight after the GF's last year. Drawing a GF against a team that is 10 goals better than you was an amazing achievement.
The bloke gave everything to our club. Absolutely everything. Do I care if we get a coach who has no loyalty to our club? No I don't. I just want a coach that will get the most out of the player's abilities. I reckon Ross did that. No-one would know his personality better than Nettlefold and co - and if they really wanted him to coach again next year and beyond - they would have signed him up. The hawks did it with Clarkson once it became apparent that clubs were on the look-out. The admin is either incompetent, naive, or stupid. Possibly all 3. We have lost the best coach to have coached our club I reckon. Better than jeans, better than the lot of them. Jeans had superstars to work with - Lyon had a couple and the rest were plodders who worked their arses off. Let's hope the next coach can get as much out of the group.
Please go to another forum. Sensible post are not allowed on here.St DAC wrote:Not the first time a bloke's changed jobs, and won't be the last. Hard to blame a bloke for putting his family first.
Maybe we even get a better gameplan?
Perhaps we'll get a better coach next time, who knows? People come and go, the club endures.

Shows he is a slimy liar as well as having zero character and zero integrity.
It was all about the money and using somebody elses hard work on list management to get his gameplan going and his glory as a premiership coach.
The man has burnt his integrity and his bridges.
Just a slimy piece of s.hit and Fremantle are welcomed to him.
An average person with no character. We have dodged a bullet with the slime refusing the Saints offer.
credibility -> window.
I bet you are so gullible to believe Lyon - lol you make me laugh.
every time I see a post of your, I chuckle at your gall after your RIX foolishness.
What an embarrassment
The whole RIX things started around the time we were smashed in Robert Harvey's 324th record breaking game when we lost to Geelong by three goals when Blake took on Ottens and King in the ruck
17 to 1 hitouts to advantage
9 goals directly related to hitouts from the ruck
I did NOT rate Rix as an amazing football talent
but thought he would be good at competing in the hitouts where we were getting smashed
most of what I wrote was jocular and it surprises me very little that clueless twits and simpletons actually took all this seriously
the same stupid numbnuts who have nothing else to fall back on keep shooting blanks
Pathetic really
Apologist clowns who know SFA now blame Lyon without any understanding of what he had to put up
Why it got to this stage, why it was not signed off on in April, why Pelchen was appointed, why get out clauses were inserted etc...etc...
the board have been very frosty towards Lyon for years
Westaway and Warne would have much the same opinion on game style etc... hence the president making public blatherings about this
just last week you were defending Lyon, he can do no wrong like the typical apologist clown that you are
now Lyon is the devil
FUNNY STUFF
Beep Beep Beep.
Keep backing up son, it is hilarious
RIX - lol
credibility -> window.
nothing you post will ever be taken seriously by anyone after your episode.
too bad you couldn't get the right coaches box
Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

I believe it's the first time anyone has left under such controversial circumstances...and usually coaches leave after they've retired or been sacked, so not to many finals coaches amongst them. Can't blame supporters, media, and even AFL officials, for being shitty.St DAC wrote:Not the first time a bloke's changed jobs, and won't be the last. I don't blame anyone for being shitty. Everyone handles disappointment in their own way. I'm disappointed too, I always liked Lyon's no nonsense approach, and I reckon he extracted the absolute maximum from a not-elite player group.degruch wrote:Can't blame supporters, media, and even AFL officials, for being shitty.
But if someone offered me a 5 year deal at mucho dinero over what I get now, at a place with lots of resources I don't think I'd toss the offer away without consideration, and once you entertain the possibility of change it's not a great leap of faith to actually make that change.
I reckon the media are pissed because they didn't even sniff the deal before it broke last night. Do them good to realise they aren't the most important group in the footy industry.
Anyway, as they say we now need to move on. Can't change what's happened, time to find a decent coach and get cracking for next year.

Well, in a 'business' that demands loyalty (to a coach, a gameplan, teammates), it blows that he has the gall to announce it took him a few days to decide to run out of town like a thief in the night, having openly told the playing group he was staying, having cut another coaches lunch, having gone benhind his managements back to do so, and not expect people to reach negatively. The media is onto it because the whole thing is crook from head to toe. Seems what is good for everyone else, does not apply to Ross Lyon...so the reaction against him is entirely understandable.St DAC wrote:I don't blame anyone for being shitty. exactly, thats what i keep saying. We would have been the laughing stock of the AFL to sign lyon up 18 months out with 1 .5 wins out of 8.Joey wrote:Exactly, its not like his contract was expiring this year he still had another year to run!degruch wrote:I dunno...expecting a club to extend their coaches contract part-way through their current tenure, with a 1-8 win-loss ration, that's pretty funny too!

Yes it is. I've lost some respect for him as well.degruch wrote:Seems what is good for everyone else, does not apply to Ross Lyon...so the reaction against him is entirely understandable.
But after all is said and done our ex coach is now coaching Freo, and we need a new coach. So I'd prefer if our club got on with that task rather than lamenting the departure of Lyon, as I hope and expect they are.
