Malthouse
If the club does decide to go after Malthouse what sould/would they have to do to secure him?
We'll probably need our own VFL side. Should we look into buying the Frankston Football Club and it's VFA/VFL license?
We'll definitely need a lot of money. Do we get serious and try to get deep into our rich supporters pocket, do we increase membership fees to pay for what we would need?

They said we're not going to go after Malthouse.
I read that as, "We are not going to go after Malthouse... right now."
Let him finish off with Collingwood first. Let him know we want to talk to him, when he is done. He will respect us for that instead of beating down his door this very minute.

and said 'contracted'
watch after the GF when malthouse gets out of contract that because he still has a desire to coach.
all of a sudden nettle didnt lie
MM is now uncontracted
he doesnt need the cash
he has a desire to still coach and get teams to the highest achievements i reckon
saying that we'll prob end up with someone else

Yeah, he didnt say anything about not talking to Malthouses manager and obviously they will wait to talk to Malthouse himself till after Collingwood is finished with the finals, and i think he only talked about contacted coaches, not contracted "whatever Eddie is calling Micks job next year"sspert wrote:Nettlefold's body language in the press conference today was interesting when asked about Malthouse- although he gave the line about not talking to contracted coaches etc, he did seem to suddenly stiffen up when asked about it, then relaxed again..mmm

Given where he's at, I suspect Malthouse would see this as a mountain worth climbing. Let's face it, he's all about Mick, so for him to have the chance to climb football's Mt Everest by lifting St Kilda to premiership glory I reckon he'd leap at it. IMO.
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

They're both professionals, and both would deal with it.matrix wrote:so a decent chance at one of the best coaches coming over
but we wouldnt get him after he had words with milne
board would say toughen up i reckon
milney would be a little uneasy i reckon tho
and thats totally understandable
If they're both at the club, would one of them do something so that they aren't working together to win the ultimate?
If so, one of them would be out of the club quick smart.

I reckon Milne just wants to play and win.

I would think after the events of the last 24 hours we would want someone with a track record of showing respect to the St Kilda Football Club.
The Club has acted honourably, and to now engage in a process to get Mick Malthouse would be a dishonourable process to employ a dishonourable man.
As I said on another thread, I'd have to sit down and think long and hard when my membership renewal arrived later this year if Malthouse was St Kilda's coach.

Possibly, but the similarity is both did not respect the club one itoa...I'm not sure if you put your heart into the job if there isn't mutual respect, and coaching the Saints requires a lot of ticker.Ice Wolf wrote:Difference is Mick still wants to coach.degruch wrote:Welcome back Malcolm...erm...I mean, Mick.
Yep there is no doubt a few wont get another membership but there is also no doubt many more will join. Why would it be dishonourable to go after MM. He is contracted but so will many assistant coahes we will interview.ThePunter wrote:I would think after the events of the last 24 hours we would want someone with a track record of showing respect to the St Kilda Football Club.
