Well, exactly... I've met a few people with a public profile, and I know the difference between public persona and private character can be vast, and polar opposites.... what I want is what's best from the club, and what we absolutely need now is to salvage a win from this mess.joffaboy wrote:I have never known a coach personally, but from what i saw didn't like GT, thought Lyon had integrity but have been proven wrong, think Malthouse is a prig, but would have to suck it up if he coached us.markp wrote:I dont personally like the man, but I dont have to like the man.
Proven he's one of the best and can deliver, we're in a crowded market now, and if we could land him we probably should.... big if though.
I dont want them as a friend, I want them to win us a flag if possible.
GT says we should go after Malthouse

Never underestimate GT...he's a devisive character.Spinner wrote:GT Just tweeted that he is hearing that deal had been reached Wednesday but CEO made subtle changes to agreed contract that infuriated Lyon and was last straw.
Few things:
Is GT on a witch hunt for MN - Do they have history?
If they were subtle changes, surely Lyon was already unhappy.

It may not have been about money, as I think the board don't want the tail wagging the dog, and I bet it was more to do with "it's what we want, not what you want"Spinner wrote:GT Just tweeted that he is hearing that deal had been reached Wednesday but CEO made subtle changes to agreed contract that infuriated Lyon and was last straw.

hmmm
and nettle did say
we wont chase mick while he has a contract.
sooooo
its he gets out of that and then shesh....could you imagine it
do we chill till after the granny???
see what happens there
no way we just wouldnt talk to him
surely someone would say look we are interested, but you need to be out of contract with the pies in every way shape and form.
going to be an interesting time during the end of 2011

I must admit, whenever saints are in a rut or media, GT is always the first to send out a quote or article to knife us. If its not him, its probably Aussie Jones... for someone who loves the Saints as much as he reckons he does, there is a lot of anger there...Spinner wrote:GT Just tweeted that he is hearing that deal had been reached Wednesday but CEO made subtle changes to agreed contract that infuriated Lyon and was last straw.

Honestly, I wouldn't have been surprised at all if the Board genuinely wasn't that pleased with the way he'd been coaching since 2009.spert wrote:It may not have been about money, as I think the board don't want the tail wagging the dog, and I bet it was more to do with "it's what we want, not what you want"Spinner wrote:GT Just tweeted that he is hearing that deal had been reached Wednesday but CEO made subtle changes to agreed contract that infuriated Lyon and was last straw.

I wouldn't be surprised that they wanted stability and to keep the coach, but insisted that he had to change some things.
Hence getting Pelchen.
And I wouldn't be surprised either, if Lyon though 'f*** this, my way is right and these dickheads are wrong so I'm outta here'.

We support our club because we love it and the people in it... I despise MM and I'm fair dinkum about that.SaintWodonga wrote:If MM comes, it will be OK with me. Anyone suggesting that they would rip up their memberships are not fair dinkum supporters.
Club needs unity more than ever.

Sounds about right!
The board had a very frosty relationship with Lyon for years!
Pelchen appointment was a defining moment!
The board not having the matter dealt ages ago and having inserted get out clauses opened the door
think what you will about Thomas but he would be getting good mail on this
