Nettlefild was just asked on radio why the club did not move quicker to recontract lyon
he said we were not doing so well mid year on the ladder and ross had a
half of his 3 year contract left to run.
I'd say the reality is that this place would have gone nuts if club had extended Lyon's contract for years , when we had only a few wins on the board.
people have short memories.
Mid year, what should the club have offered Lyon?

Re: Mid year, what should the club have offered Lyon?
I overheard from a director back in April that they wanted to resign him and that there was no way they were going to sack him. He said that they thought a big club might lure him awyay with a massive offer and that they were keen to resign him. I thought Carlton were going to have a go.
His contact had the get out clause which protected us as well. That contract was done before our massive run and before he was considered a coaching genius. It was reported that the new contract was a four year contract with no such clause.
