Mr Invisible
Mr Never there
Mr Roll over to the AFL

He's had the whole year to lock Ross in to a long term contract

What's he done?

NOTHING
As usual

Apparently the offer to Lyon (which has been on the table for more than the last 24 hours) was an unconditional 4 year contract at a higher salary than he earns now.

Source: SEN.

Maybe we should have stitched him up earlier, but in fairness he was already contracted for another 12 months (we stitched him up last year with the extension).

4 years at more money is a pretty good offer.

Here Here! As Keith McGowan said in a letter to the club ...

Dear Sir. S.O.S ! Same Old Saints. When will you ever learn ? Ross Lyon should have been tied up months ago. He has guided us through a magnificent era. A “bouncing ball from a Premiershipâ€

Shattered but right decision by the club, 4 years is a good offer, maybe 1 year too long IMO! 5 years is a long time in footy, lots can change, lick our wounds and move on. Thanks to the winningest coach in StKFC history i would think? Gave us every opportunity but we, him included couldn't close the deal.

Fortius quo fidelius

Go saints

Maybe this year?

Not the clubs fault.
He was contracted for another year and offered 4 years.
Ross walked. End of story.

No excuses, the Club has cocked it up, he should have been stiched up a long time ago. SEN have just reported that he was offered no extra money. Time for a new President & Board, before they c**k up further with the next appointment. It would so obviously stupid if they appointed Eade.

IF this proves true Greg Westaway if **** gone. Leven should b gone. Nettlefold, Thompson the whole figgin lot can ferk off.

I can not believe IF this is true that our Board could be so incompetent and allow this to happen.

Should have been stitched up months ago AND why on earth would you allow a clause that basically means the last year is null and void anyway?

Why blame the administration , he still had a year to go on his contract , most probably believed he would honour it .
At the end of the day ross's legacy at st kilda is ; a successful one , yet a list of players allot poorer than the list he inherited .
will he it be any different at freo ?

Rubbish.

How much do you reckon we offered him... I'd say $750,000 pa tops, and that would IMO be overs to what we can afford.

He's gone to Freo for probably twice that.

7.5 mill for 5 years
we are in no position financially to get near that... and it would be fiscally wrong to do so

He might have left mid season if that occurred.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

PRECISELY

They F***** UP massively

They allowed this situation to develop by not having it done and dusted ages ago

They inherited Ross Lyon and have now managed to lose him

Thye inserted a get out clause

You remember Westaway making PUBLIC blatherings about our style of play a few years ago

hence the get out clause

Then offer a new contract with many CONDITIONS

These idiots took the club to Seaford without making one mention of it when they were seeking election yet announce the move within two weeks of being elected

Spirit of the contract

Yeah well done, that sounds water tight

Of course you will get no shortage of numbnuts and apologist clowns on here who know SFA who will make all myriad of excuses

fact is they inherited Ross Lyon and they lost him for being the incompetent and clueless buffoons that they are

SACK THEM NOW

One fact cant be ignored - THIS BOARD allowed the negotiations to wait till this long AND allowed Lyon to insert a get out clause into his contracts that makes the final year a joke.

THATS A FACT and hardly what Id call smart...
