Personally I hope like hell his coaching career continues (although not at the Sants !)Schillaci wrote:Media beat up continues...they need to sell some papers. At least Harvey's sacking is true, just read it on afl website...had one year left on his contract. Maybe Melbourne can nab Mark Harvey instead. Personally I hope his coaching career is over he annoys the hell out of me. I cringe every time I hear him interviewed...can't put two words together. An inspirational type speech from him would last 20 minutes, be monotone, contain 100 pauses and more than a few ums or errs.

I wouldnt think it would be Ross. Lets face it he only finished our season on Saturday night. So in the space of what 5 days he has been interviewed and come to terms with Freo. It would have to be a coach that has already finished their season such as Eade or of course we are all forgetting the ex adelaide coach Craig. Adelaide is much closer to Freost_Trav_ofWA wrote:Very strange ... Normally there's a hint of something going on with Freo this time nothing just bang sacked...
Reckons its Lyon.

Imagine that. Media linking another weak-as-piss club to our contracted Head Coach.
As someone else just said, if he turned down Melb, why on earth would he move to the other side of the country to work for a club with even less potential?
If France started an AFL club, would Ross Lyon be 'strongly linked' to the job?
Here's how it works: A vacancy comes up, loads of journos and pundits talk about who would be good there. A mix of coaches currently out of work and great employed coaches that would make great stories if they ever changed clubs. In the case of the latter, enough of them talk about it, until they are satisfied that the talk is 'strong', then they can use the phrase 'strongly linked'.
Strongly linked by who? Journalists trying to manufacture a story. Maybe sometimes an agent, smelling percentage of any signing fee. Look how the Lyon to Demons saga played out. These journalists, they keep scratching until something bleeds.
Be strong. Think before reacting. Don't panic.

Finey reckons that Lyon confirmed that he would be at the Saints and if this is the case he has totally blindsided the Saints.
Saints to release a statement imminent

Even if Freo have talked to Lyon, what does that mean?
"Would you like to coach Fremantle?"
"not really."
"Sure? Loads of money in it. We'll let you bring in whoever. Have 5 years. Go on!"
"Oh. errrr... nah. Thanks though."
"No worries. You Sure?"
"Yeah. Bye."
LYON HAS SECRET PHONE CONVERSATION WITH FREMANTLE. MONEY AND TERMS DISCUSSED.
