His main attribute is his pace.
Why would you want to slow him down with 15kg of fat?

Agree he needs more strength and conditioning.
Also needs a bit more determination and mongrel.

Is that a total of 4 or 5 years or another 4 or 5 years from now?

Either way you are asking us to be extremely patient. Hope he comes good, but think if he is on the list next year he will need to improve significantly to still be there in 2013.
I said he'd be at his PEAK in 4-5 years time, doesn't mean he can't play good football in the next couple of years.

Most ruckman are in their prime in their mid 20s.

We might as well stick with him but obviously it's mental issues that have seen him stall. Lyon stated after our first few losses this year that he was really hoping for Stanley to be part of the 22 in the pre season but hadn't been performing to the level required.

I suspect that he came to the club with a bit too much confidence in himself and the coaches have tried to stamp that out, but in doing so he's lost ALL confidence in his ability.

I'm also not sure where he fits into the team. While McEvoy and Riewoldt are in the team I believe we can only have one of Kosi, Stanley and Walsh in as well.

I remember seeing the photos from training last week and Stanley certainly looked much bigger across his shoulders than I ever remember seeing him before. He did need more upper body strength.

As others have said we hope this doesn't come as a "trade-off" for his speed.

We need both Stanley, and, I hope, Walsh to step up next year.

It we got a giant wheel installed at Seaford, connected it to a turbine, he could power the floodlights for training.

We still are looking for that elusive 3rd tall. With Roo's best years behind him it becomes even more important. Rhys could be the answer.

Or go totally left fiield - move Roo to CHB and play Rhys at Chf

Persist.

We have persisted with the likes of Jimmy Gwilt.

Stanley could be a player when he matures.

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. even if he loses a yard or two he'll still be very quick, not much good being lightening quick if you snap like a twig at the first sign of body contact

Tough one, tall and needs time due to this, however seems to have issue with commitment / attitude and if this is not something that can be fixed the attractive trade bait, perhaps Adelaide for the forward that wants to come home Gunstan ( He is from SA).

I think mobile ruck may be his position but needs to pull the finger out and get past the whole GF sprint thing and in the words of KennedY " JUST DO SOMETHING" if he stays.

Cut the kid some slack. He is ahead of ayce cordy who is older and was a high pick. A bit of patience. Keep him for sure.

I do think we should give him more time, but I wouldn't say he is ahead of anyone at the moment. We have been battered with injuries and desperate for a tall forward, but he still couldn't break in…

As mentioned previously - bigger players usually need time to develop

Here is a list for comparison (some have left a mark , some are still developing)

Shane Mumford - 25
Max Bailey - 24
Trent West - 24
Robbie Warnock - 24
Cameron Wood - 24
Mitch Clark - 24
Todd Goldstein - 23
Matthew Leuenberger - 23
Shaun Hampson - 23
Sam Jacobs - 23
Matthew Kreuzer - 22
Ben McEvoy - 22
Zac Clarke - 21 (likel to be a freak)

Rhys .... well he is still only 20

He has time on his side - Jamar, Jolly, Cox & Ottens all developed late

Either way from the picture below he looks like he is physically heading in the right direction - get his head right and he could be anything!!

Stanley needs to stay with us.

Common, how many 200cm players win a grand final sprint against the fastest people in the comp?

He's still young, and show a bit, give him some game time, he will come along well, then we won't have to worry about Nik Nat from WC :P

Imo, his height and speed is the key, just develop him more

stanley is safe as houses. unless gws poach him.

he's only 20 and needs a couple more years to develop. as someone has said. mcevoy is 22 and has only cemented his spot this year.

cahill on the other hand is gone. look at him in that pic. the bloke hasnt put the effort in.

agree with marto, will play some games as perhaps a high half forward next year and look to take over kosi's spot in 2013.

Also agree that he needs to work on his leg muscles, but that is conditioning aint it?

yeah, work on the legs and the mongrel.

for mine fraser always looked a bit top heavy (see http://www.life.com/image/71217520 ), but if he could display 1/4 of fraser's mongrel i'd be happy.
