Back to the Future, Saints in 2012....
1 – Re sign R Lyon, his game plan might be floored but smart enough to understand where the game is going and keeping St Kilda as a consistent finals contender.
2 – Boys, please no scandals or bad press over off season, don’t give the blood sucking journo’s anything negative to write about.
3 – Tweak game plan slightly, introduce the skill of sheparding a team mate when he has the ball so that when he disposes of it he is not under pressure. Protect the ball carrier and skill errors will decrease.
4 – Hard decisions need to be made on the following: R Clarke, Z Dawson, Polo, Gamble, Blake, Gram, Koschitzke, Gilbert, Armitage.
5 – Captaincy to Goddard, very, very disappointing to see our captain abuse his own team mates on their delivery or lack of delivery to him.
6 – Do not draft players over 25, look for key position rather than “gruntâ€

if not getting stuck into your teammates is part of the captaincy criteria maybe Goddard's not your man?????Saints 2012 wrote:5 – Captaincy to Goddard, very, very disappointing to see our captain abuse his own team mates on their delivery or lack of delivery to him.

true - but nathan buckley used to be very taciturn just like BJ and he ended up a good skipper who stopped doing that. BJ could learn from Bucks. Very similar players/personalities.samwell wrote:if not getting stuck into your teammates is part of the captaincy criteria maybe Goddard's not your man?????Saints 2012 wrote:5 – Captaincy to Goddard, very, very disappointing to see our captain abuse his own team mates on their delivery or lack of delivery to him.

floored = exactly is it worth getting out the broom and sweeping it away?

The juxtaposition of the idea of the team and supporters being "united" and that of "roots at Junction Oval" brings certain images to my mind that I'd prefer not to have there.saintphantom wrote:Get out of Seaford.
Get back to the Roots @ Junction Oval. Then the Team and Supporters can be reunited instead of isolated.

Understand this and in part agree. But FFS Seaford is a Bomb for the players and supporters.meher baba wrote:The juxtaposition of the idea of the team and supporters being "united" and that of "roots at Junction Oval" brings certain images to my mind that I'd prefer not to have there.saintphantom wrote:Get out of Seaford.

Agree with all that has been said. I reckon drafting players who can handle pressure is a must. This is an area we have struggled in recently with the 2009 and 2010 Grand Final chokes, plus all those prelims over the past decade.
I reckon keep Ross Lyon, he has done an amazing job with the cattle he has had at his disposal and almost so nearly got us a flag. He may have to tweak the game plan a bit, but his motivational skills and people management skills are amazing and we simply cannot lose him.
I don't mind the avenue of drafting older type players with experience, but maybe it is not the way. Its annoying when teams like GWS are signing young guns like Tom Scully and Rhys Palmer etc, but we struggle to land the big fish.

I don't agree with the under 25 idea, though i respect it.
We have one more year. From 2013, we're done, in terms of having the Fisher/Hayes/Roo/Dal/BJ/Monty/Milne group still fit and firing.
They wanna combine bringing in Walsh, Ledger, Cripps, Winmar and Siposs, with those hard choices you already listed, with landing a couple of jets. Three or four Andrew Lovett equivalents.
You wanna send a signal to Roo and BJ and Lenny that we are gonna win the flag this year b/c its' the last year we'll have you three together and in close enough to top shape.

The two sisters could hardly have been more different, one so boisterous and expressive, the other so taciturn and calm

ok cumudgeonly. whatever. whats your point? attacking me personally or you disagree with the contention that BJ is similar to bucks or that Bj could also change his ways if he were captain to stop him attacking his own players?Moccha wrote:Silent; temperamentally untalkative; disinclined to speak.Con Gorozidis wrote:true - but nathan buckley used to be very taciturn just like BJ and he ended up a good skipper who stopped doing that. Got to agree to some extent.. though junction Oval would be a nice idea- the Seaford move was not a good idea..was it driven by ghost Westaway and the board originally? It really makes the club look second-rate and low-profile IMHO.saintphantom wrote:Get out of Seaford.

Keep Ross but Keep rebuilding towards future.
Ross will have learn't from the media led charge against St.Kilda- come summer he'll know what to expect with real footy stories hard to unearth. I believe in Lyons' case it will make him adjust and improve.
our Forward Line must improve- GOALS and more Goals are needed to help the team reestablish their street credit and another launch into september.
We may already have without realising it have a young gun in the system but i think we need to draft another one a.s.a.p.
Stay around Rossi- you're not done yet.

The boy can play and we can build a defence around him that will have respect.

I think you mean demonstrative. I think you have your meanings mixed up.
