Why? because of his exquisite kicking skills.

No because of his ability to win a clearance.

OH MY.

Just on SEN another caller "has it on good authority" that BJ is gone to be captain of GWS.

GWS wouldn't have the coverage of players to get BJ free all the time.
He would have to go head to head or get tagged and then get smashed

To be honest, it wouldn't surprise me.
It was put out there by a talkback caller. I wouldn't be puting too much credibility to it just yet !!
Why??

Because it hasn't happened yet

It's obviously Tommy Walsh. Why do you think Ross hasn't been picking him?

If Goddard really is the big fish GWS are going after, (at the end of next season, when he comes out of contract and they get the last year of "uncontracted" picks) then they won't be going after Gilbert, or anyone else like him (from St Kilda), that's out of contract this year (as they are only able to get one from each club that way). If they gave us one of the four 16 or 17yo's for him that would be a different story, though. That could be very well worth looking into.
It will be very interesting to see what effect Pelchan has on our list management and trading/recruiting strategy, though. A very interesting month ahead.

After the pre season uproar, Gilbert has probably been at the head of the queue heading for the exit door.
St Kilda would have been hoping he had a big 2010 to lift his currency.
Even if he wants to stay, it's highly he'll be there next year.

what, me worry ?

Gilbert had a poor season, but is a good player. Strong, quick, great tackler and spoiler and breaks the lines....would want good compo.

Isn't Goddard contracted to the end of 2012? If so GWS can't touch him.

You can get more than one player. Trade for one and then draft one in the pre season. If we think our run is coming to an end then you may look at trading BJ but I dont think we will look at that at all.

My mail is that GWS have only signed the 4 players this year (the 3 already announced & Scully) but have a swag of players coming out of contract in 2012. Including BJ & Pendlebury

Gilbert looked good last night and showed his worth. He seems to pick up in finals. Zac hasn't signed yet I believe and would be on a few radars.

If the dogs and dees get 2 first rounders for their crap I want 4 first rounders for Gilbert. Oh and 32 first round picks for BJ.

With a bunch of kids on base money filling out the list & front ended contracts for the blokes on big $... I think you'll be surprised how much they can 'fit' in the TPP.
