I know it relates to another team but I am frankly amazed that Nathan Bock isn't in the mix, esp ahead of J Gibson. He's been incredible, Bock. Weird.
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Eddie Betts has 22, Milne has 19.
Milne is an absolute certainty IMHO.

Eddie Betts, Carlton. Never previously selected.
22 games in 2011. 161 kicks, 84 marks, 113 handballs, averaging 7.3 kicks, 3.8 marks, 5.1 handballs. 45 goals 19 behinds. 16 clearances, 38 inside 50m, one rebound 50m
Stephen Milne, St Kilda. Never previously selected.
22 games in 2011. 220 kicks, 90 marks, 74 handballs, averaging 10.0 kicks, 4.1 marks, 3.4 handballs. 55 goals (fourth in the AFL) 32 behinds. 21 clearances, 64 inside 50m, 13 rebound 50m.
More kicks, more marks, more goals, more behinds, more clearances, more almost double the inside 50s, more rebound 50's & apparently is even with assists.
No brainer?

Yeah in 09 he did, but this is only the fifth year of the All-Australian Squad.saintbrat wrote:whilst we all know Milney hasn't gotten the final nod for AA before- has he even made the squad before?

In spite of his relatively poor season (especially early on) this squad still needs more Goddard. Here is his year, stats and points wise, when compared with 4 of the others named as a chance for a back flank:

The difference between his year and Bob Murphy's looks LOL funny, when you consider Murph got nominated and BJ didn't. They're comparing BJ's year to previous years, not to the others seasons this year. 8 games of 27-37 possies, when playing mostly on the backline and not even making the squad?

I have no problem with goddard missing out, remember the first 5 rounds how often his opponent would be best on ground. I don't think he ever came into contention.AnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:In spite of his relatively poor season (especially early on) this squad still needs more Goddard. So it is now worked out on the worst games. Strange. I would have thought it is about their best games. BJ will be lucky to be top 5 in out B&F. He hardly deserves to be in the top 40 players in the AFLAnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:Joel Selwood missed 5 games and all bar 5 mins of the game against us yet he made the squad. I dare say BJ's 5 worst games were still better than Selwood not playing at all.

Yeah, but how many games this year was Goddard the main force in why we won?AnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:Joel Selwood missed 5 games and all bar 5 mins of the game against us, yet he made the squad. I dare say BJ's 5 worst games were still better than Selwood not playing 5 at all.
How many times was the the most influential player on the ground this year?
I haven't seen enough of Selwood to know whether he should be in the AA team (Though stats wise i'd say no) - But Goddard is no where near AA this year.
Not even close.
