Milne takes guys on routinely. If you're tackled doing that, and aren't strong enough to stand in the tackle and get your arms free a la Nathan Buckley and GA jnr, you get pinged. Happens to everyone, not just Milne.

Schneider is a dead set stager. Almost as bad as Lloyd. Watch him: he tries to get a 50 just about every time he marks the ball. You can't really blame the umps for not taking him seriously. It's the boy that cried wolf situation. I doubt the clapping of the umps all those aeons ago has much to do with it.

All IMO of course.

We started the game getting all the frees and it ended with Carlton getting soft ones to even up. Just another s*** display last night on both sides. Including some mystery calls- telling I think it was Schnieder that you have to actually make the tackle when he was holding the player? Another holding the ball I think was against Raph where he was corralled but not tackled and was gone for holding the ball. Then the stuff up with Catrlton getting an advantage where they were already tackled from a soft one against us.

I'm talking about the AFL. They run everything. They'll lie and tell everyone that these other departments are independant and they have no input into them, but they run them.

And like everything they do, they enure that the 'idiot public drones' (their view of the fans) are fed garbage to believe that everything they do is perfect and beyond reproach.

Umpiring is the same. They don't want umpiring stats looking bad. They don't want umpires being dropped. Because it would show failure and imcompetence.

So they don't allow it to happen. They do what they always do, and make s*** up to ensure they have proof and evidence that everything is just wonderful.

It's nothing new. And not really an argument I'm interested in continuing. Everyone knows it's the case anyway.
Typical crap made up rubbish. How do you know umpires arent dropped. You wouldnt have a clue. If I felt the way you obvoiusly do id go and find another sport. Maybe one that isnt as well run and then you can come back when you realise this is well run.
So gullible that its amusing.

I don't know too many people that think they do a good job.

The buddy arc is great example of how the umpires dept have twisted rules that were originally designed to be egalitarian.

Milne and Schneider do have a different set of rules imo, they aren't the only ones though.
Seriously it makes me wonder. i dont know anyone who thinks Netball, Cricket, socccer or other umpires do a good job but I do know people who have no idea.

Plug, do you think some umps find it easier to pay frees to some players than others?

I wouldnt have a clue but common sense suggests if that is the case then if the free wasnt there they wouldnt be umpiring very many games.

some stats

Post: # 1131417Post Alfie Hewsdale »

But what do the stats say??

:?:
Milne and Schneider consistently get more frees against than for
:x :o
FF FA Year
Schneider 15 26 2011
17 27 2010
23 20 2009
8 25 2008
(with swans) 17 21 2007
19 21 2006
8 4 2005
4 11 2004
6 11 2003

Milne 19 34 2011
16 42 2010
16 28 2009
19 28 2008
16 26 2007
19 35 2006
18 28 2005
11 10 2004
9 12 2003
18 27 2002

But surely that's typical for small forwards who are intensely disliked by opposition supporters..especially players who are well known for staging like Schnieds..

like Gus Monfries for instance.
:P

Monfries 39 27 2011
31 16 2010
38 14 2009
50 11 2008
31 15 2007
26 9 2006
15 9 2005

 No.. staging seems to work ok for Gus and players like Joel Selwood

Selwood 47 21 2011
53 24 2010
59 36 2009
63 21 2008
36 20 2007

No .. wait... Selwood is a well liked scrupulously fair ball player who goes in hard and puts his head over the pill
:)
... just like Lenny Hayes.
:D

Hayes 6 3 2011
44 35 2010
28 24 2009
30 33 2008
21 17 2007
9 9 2006
22 21 2005
20 22 2004
13 24 2003
17 19 2002
:?

Hang on a minute...

And the moral is...

nice to be Monfries and Selwood

you can prove anything with the right stats :D

So did Schneider.
