NOTHING TO DO WITH LAST NIGHT!

This thread is NOT about whether Gram had a lot of touches or NOT and NOT about his quiet game last night.

I do not base his performance or relative worth on how many possessions he acquires considering he is playing in defence.

Is that much clear?

This thread is about the many examples every game where he does not go hard, squibs it and avoids body contact.

Still waiting for the young players to replace him or do go with 21?

I would have played just about ANYONE ahead of Gram!

for starters

Geary

Gram at best should only be selected as a sub

If you took any notice of the "mob" on here, we would currently be fielding a side MINUS Gram (subject of this illiterate thread), Steven (taking too long to develop), Jones (can't kick), McEvoy (got hit in the nose attempting to mark a ball so can not play), Dawson (agree - the jury is still well and truly out but who is the option?), Clarke (enough said - just a dud), Goddard (taking too long to develop), Gilbert (just plain bad - trade him), Armitage (taking too long to develop - off to GWS), Ray (soft and useless), Kosi (as with Clarke, enough said and a dud), Dal (soft and dropped to the Seconds), Peake (a waste of space) and Polo (Richmond reject) - among others.

In fact, the only 3 players we might retain are Riewoldt, Fisher and the 2 goal a game player.

No doubt those 3 could easily take on 22 from any other club.

Apart from Dawson, who got touched up and looked in awe of his opponent, I thought our defence held up remarkably well - for the third week in a row - except this week we had a functioning attack.

Gram was again part of that defensive effort.

The question from here is support for McEvoy given we really want Kosi forward and in a utility role - and not committed to rucking as support for McEvoy.

Blake, whilst honest, does not cut it and will not cut it in finals.

So Gardiner's follow up on the track after yesterday's efforts at Geelong will be of interest.

Good to see Cahill amongst the best and with some goals - afer an injury savaged season.

That's funny.

Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry goes down to the workplace of a heckler and heckles her

Gram has turned it around this year. He looks to have lost some weight and moves quicker.

It has benefited the team no doubt.

Needs to go the first option more often it would be more damaging.

But all in all, has improved a lot over the last month.

he needs to go first option and use less ambitious kicking options (sometimes his ambition out-shines his abilities with his kicking).

But I like his run. he reads it well and he does have a great baulk/dummy on him. always makes me laugh when he sells it. it usually comes off too.

Been good all month, definitely not the hardest at the club....but don't call him soft, just not right.

If he was unwell before the game, its a terrific effort to get thru a game of AFL....how are you at work when you're feeling crap??? Not at the best of your game I would think...give Grammy a break.

...and I'm preferring it to the 30 dodgy disposals per game from the 1st half of this year. Good on him for turning it around, it can't be easy to find your form when everyone around you is struggling as well.

In my mind he won a Norm Smith, we won the flag and Chapman was suspended for 2 years by WADA…

I do get a little muddled from time to time though…

Geary plays the same role as Gramsy 1 except he goes in hard

Drop Gram

Play Walsh in defence

Ross Lyon as sub

Geary as coach.

but here's one for starters

Dawson and Petrie one out in the square with Gram in a position to help out as third man up

Blake would have smashed it through for a point

Gram just watches and waits for a crumb

He is a serious liability!
If you are talking about the play I think you are talking about Gram would have needed to be Usain Bolt to get into the contest and as he would have been coming from front on probably would have given away a free kick at the same time.

Not sure that some even watch the game

He has always been a weak link IMO...

If GRAM is to remain in the team RL should try him up forward and make him apply forward pressure. He is lazy and choses when to give effort and when not.

This week I would drop Gram and Geary and bring in Baker & Walsh. Baker to shut down one of Carltons small forwards and Walsh to expose Carlton lack of tall defenders. We also know Walsh can go back if required.

So you want 3 changes to a winning side. Seriously we need to give the players who have gotten us 8 wins out of our last 11 even more confidence. Gram has been doing well on small forwards where as Baker has been struggling. Geary is OK and will have a role this week as well. You dont always need to change a winning side especially when the alternatives arent any better.
