Where did i say I would want him to stay. If he leaves he breaches his contract. The club is then entitled to damagesfor breach of contract.plugger66 wrote:So you want to keep a coach that doesnt want to stay. What does that achieve. If he leaves you would gather the reason is he doesnt want to stay. If MM becomes coach it would be unbelievable for the club but it wont happen. And Ill be honest. Ill be distrought.
If Malthouse became coach I would not renew my membership until he left. Even a flag would be sullied by having that vermin at our club.
if you bother to read what i posted I said i hope we sue him if he leaves. Not to keep him, but to get proper financial recompense for him not honouring his contract.
As for Malthouse. You may sell your principles and integrity and welcome vermin like that slug to the club, but I certainly wouldn't.
I couldn't support a club financially that would lower itself to empoy such a low human being. But as you say he wony be coaching us which is great news.
Lance or James??

IMO Lyon has been given the honour of coaching the St.Kilda FC and to this point has done a good job. If he should bail having not developed the youth but focused on extracting the most out of the playing group for the short term gain I would be most disappointed.
I'll give Ross the benefit of the doubt at this point - that he indeed has the best interests of the club long term in perspective. Should he choose to go elsewhere then self interest would be the obvious motivation.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

I really don't think self interest would play a role in anyting he did or anything someone ever does for that mattter. Lyon would want to go to Melbourne becuase it would be the right thing to do given all their troubles. I mean, you have to feel for them.PJ wrote:IMO Lyon has been given the honour of coaching the St.Kilda FC and to this point has done a good job. I would be GUTTED if Ross left.
Agree with you Joffaboy that the club is entitled to and should vigorously fight for adequate recompense for a gun contracted coach being meticulously poached by another club if indeed it ends like that.. If we got nothing for him it would be a travesty and a boot to the guts.
However, I disagree with your feelings toward Malthouse. It seems to me that Malthouse isn't really a "Collingwood" man at all. He played football for Richmond and St.Kilda, then went on to coach Footscray and the Eagles for a long, long time before Collingwood stole him. He was poached, as Ross is being by Melbourne. If Eddie was president of St.Kilda he'd be coming out right now saying "if Ross Lyon breaks contract we'll sue him, melbourne, the afl, everyone" yadada.
Anyway, Malthouse has said himself "I've never really felt at home at Collingwood" and it seems to me lately that he's taken the attitude of "well, they're getting rid of me as senior coach next year, I want to keep coaching, I don't want to be locked in to the contract," so I would not be one bit surprised if he breaks his contract and walks out.
Even though it will never happen, I'd like to see him coach us if Ross leaves. Who else are you going to get with his credentials??

"Too big, too strong, too whatever."
Surely you jest? It's a money industry - how many people do you see doing it for the love? Back on Ross, he would have to have priorities and a shift to Smelbourne would have $$'s written all over it.I really don't think self interest would play a role in anyting he did or anything someone ever does for that mattter.

I don't care if he stays or goes....i support him whilst he's there but i'll lose no sleep if he goes...it's the nature of the coaching game...One day a StKilda coach will bring home the bacon....i'm not sure now it'll be Ross but i'm interested in how he goes about the rejuvenation of the list....
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

I highly doubt he would leave and if he did, It would't be to Melbourne but someone like Carlton who just need a bit of tweaking and a player or two to win a flag. He would be a perfect fit. Doubt it will happen but nothing would surprise me.
Anyway, we're not in the same boat and if we need to rebuild which is probably likely, who is to say that he is the right bloke for the job.
