Milne's record in perspective
as we all know by now his first goal tomorrow night will be his 300th at the Docklands, how does that rate with other Saints?
Most Goals at a league ground by a St Kilda Player(Min 200)
Gls Mt Venue
397 98 Junction Oval Bill Mohr
329 62 Moorabbin Tony Lockett
299 121 Docklands Stephen Milne *
288 113 Docklands Nick Riewoldt *
209 104 VFL Park Stewart Loewe
* Current Players
2 things out of this list Bill Mohr must of be one hell of a player! and the other is the Yapper is one of this Clubs greats
this is a list i put togather not one i found so please feel free too add too it if need

Billy Mohr doesn't get the recognition he deserves.
In an ordinary side ...
He kicked 735 goals in 195 games at 3.8 per games.
He topped our goalkickers 12 years in a row.
He kicked 27 bags of 7 goals or more (in a relatively low scoring era)
Three bags of 10 or more including 10.2 against Coll at Vic Park in 1930 and 11.4 against them at JO in 1931 when they were the number one team.
Clearly our greatest forward apart from Plugger.
But amazingly he was only 182cm and 81kg!!!!

you forgot his Record for Victoria mt - 18 goals - 88
during his Career Collingwood were the best team and had some say the best fullback ever in Jack Regan
Mohr's Record vs Collingwood isnt too bad
mt Goals W-L
Junction Oval 9 33 3-6
Victoria Park 7 33 0-7
MCG 1 4 0-1 (1939 Preliminary Final)
17 70 3-14
I Remember in the late 80's talking too a few 'old timers' who saw both Lockett and Mohr too a man there said Mohr was the better player

the 30's were a golden age for forwards every team had them that makes Mohr's record for Victoria all the more impressivebergsone wrote:My father used to say that Mohr was the best of his era,and if he had played in a top side would have been considered best of all time.Maybe he was biased who knows?.But he did know his footy
as for the St Kilda team of that era we were always there abouts but just for a bit of luck maybe the '39 team could of won the flag

Hear what your saying,I think his point was that we had some greats but fell away after top 4-6 players, bit like some talking about our bottom 6 etc.Anyway cant ask him now,but was a big wrap for Mohr, pity no modern footage of past greatsmcadam05 wrote:the 30's were a golden age for forwards every team had them that makes Mohr's record for Victoria all the more impressivebergsone wrote:My father used to say that Mohr was the best of his era,and if he had played in a top side would have been considered best of all time.Maybe he was biased who knows?.But he did know his footy

And what do those guys have that Milne does not???plugger66 wrote:Simple to some up Milney's record in perspective. He averages pretty much the same goals per game as Rooy, Browny and Hally so there you go.
Brown: 2 time All Australian
Hall: 4 time AA
Riewoldt: 4 time AA
Milne: 0 time AA
Should be fixed this year, unless of course, the All Australian selection has become a popularity contest

An eight-goal bag against the hapless Crows in round 18 was his best ever haul in a game and he put another four past Fremantle in Friday night's crucial clash

He'll never be in the AA.
they'll put some one in their first year in one FP and they'll put a resting midfielder in the other.
the year FG won the coleman, lloyd was put at FF.
it is a popularity contest.
Milne will never be popular.
hope he gets to 600...

Yep. Franklin will probably be the FF this year - though he's been up and down. Jack Roo has no chance of being in it, Cloke will be CHF.Winmar wrote:One thing in his favour is that it's a very poor year for goalkicking overall. The Coleman winner isn't going to kick a huge tally, so it's not like having to fit Lockett and Dunstall in the same forward line.
Really, Milney has to be in it this year, there's no hiding it. There'll be a shitfight if that maggot lecras makes it ahead of Yapper - he and nicoski are frontrunning girls! they did nothing against us!
Rioli hasnt done enough, nor as anyone else.
walker has to be in one forward pocket, next to franklin. the other forward pocket should be whichever of milne, garlett, johnson, betts and giansiracusa ends up on the most goals:stevie wrote:Yep. milne 46 from 18
garlett 40 from 19
johnson 39 from 17
betts 39 from 19
giansiracusa 38 from 16
jurrah 34 from 16
lecras 33 from 15
crameri 31 from 18
green 30 from 18
if milne kicks 10 in the next four games then he basically can't be caught. but i reckon that would be a pretty good effort considering we're playing some tough games.

johnson would be the only one maybe to get in, and he would be on a forward flank.bergholt wrote:walker has to be in one forward pocket, next to franklin. the other forward pocket should be whichever of milne, garlett, johnson, betts and giansiracusa ends up on the most goals:stevie wrote:Yep.
