In saying that, yeah, agreed.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

The Pies are not invulnerable, the easy game they had tonight might work to our favor, especially as they played it in poor weather.
Whilst I am not confident we will win next week, I do believe we can beat them.
They are due for a loss, and a big upset is due.
However, we will have to play at our best for 4 quarters, most importantly, we have to turn for the second of those quarters, as it is imperative that we be ahead at half time.
If we can do that, it will build belief and confidence.
We will also need a bit of good fortune to go our way.
The best start we could have would be for Roo to kick two early big goals to pick his confidence up.
A lot has to go right.

from a blindly optomistic partisan view i thought we had the pies under control until haltime - hence eddie losing it. two poor calls gifted them two late goals.
at his haltime address ross told the players - okay we know we have them, time to put the cue in the rack guys. save it for the finals and let them get cocky

It will be won or lost in the middle. Swan and co., can amass heaps of possessions, and they dont fiddle around- it's straight down the guts. If we have a quarter where we get thrashed in clearances then that will be the end of the game. I would play Goddard on the ball for this game. I reckon RL will also put much importance on stopping the run from their backline.

Does it mean anything to either team if they lose? It'd be a confidence booster for us maybe, but that's all it will mean. We were well on top of the Pies late last year, it didn't mean much in the end.Cairnsman wrote:Next week will be a training exercise for the Pies. they will only be thinking about preparing for September. They will probably rest players too so expect them to be well less than full stregnth. They will still account for us easy though.

The dumbest thing ever to say...but I think we're going to step up and give it a good run on Friday night. I'm also going one dumb step further and tipping us for the win.
When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

The Pies have not lost the tackle count in six weeks. The last time they lost it was their closest margin since, six points against Sydney.
IMO this is the key to Friday night - matching their intensity. Any team's game plan will crack given enough pressure is applied. Unfortunately this is where they are the competition benchmark, and our form has not been convincing lately.
We lost last Friday's tackle count by a good 25% differential. That is not going to get the job done. The Saints need to find another gear. It's as simple as that.

Pretty much. If we play to out best based on this year and the Pies play at their best then we'll lose by 10 goals. We need to find something extra to be in with a chance. The fact that it's being played at Etihad is a good start.InkerSaint wrote: ....

Slow burn.
Start out rubbish.
Build a bit.
Stutter.
Get it together.
Consistency.
Compete against the best.
And come into a finals series firing.
If we lose its just meh.

collingwood does not have 30K legends members. not when they capped it at 9K. it has about 11K all up who have melbourne based away game reserved seat rights.mcadam05 wrote:they get entry too MCG away games not every away gamematrix wrote:you shouldnt get automatically anythingSaintPav wrote:go away you dumb ugly mole.Tess wrote:Collingwood have 30,000plus Legends members who will have automatic tickets to this game so this should be a pro Collingwood crowd.

most, if not all, melbourne based clubs have a membership offering that entitles its members to a reserved seat to all games in melbourne.
that aside, having been at etihad on friday night i did not see anything that concerned me or think the saints will win this week. if anything, the gap (since the last meeting) may narrow by 3-4 goals. good luck to your mob if you get up. i hope it is a good hit out for both sides heading into the finals.
