But we should still make heaps of changes because it would show guts. Lets not worry that the side plays a lower standard of footy and are still no good.AnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:Thanks for that. Sounds like they've lost the plot in recent weeks, though.saintbrat wrote:cahill 41 not doing well

To be fair our midfield stocks are at a record low right now. Most of the runners who were in great form for sandy are injured (ledger, mini, cripps etc)
Still, need the boys pushing up

nah, I just get sick of the folks wanting to shoot all the young kids all the time.bobmurray wrote:Whatever it is your on i hope others don't stumble across it.........Dan Warna wrote:We should de-list johnson now, or try and get a 3rd round trade pick because he hasn't won a brown low yet...
Had some of the 'we want our 18 year olds out there getting 35 possessions' got their way, 3/4 of the team would have been traded before they were 21.
I"ve constantly argued that kids need time to develop.
Montagna used to get a pasting on this forum because he didn't develop at the same speed as dal santo.

No it wouldn't, because that wouldn't be brave, it would be stupid. You're obviously not familiar with the difference between the two. I'm not at all surprised.plugger66 wrote:But we should still make heaps of changes because it would show guts. Got there about mid way through the 3rd and Sandy didn't get much of the pill for the remainder of the 1/4, so I was more trying to take some pics. Started to do a lot better from about a third of the way through the last, but Casey may have taken the foot off the pedal by then.
Was mostly watching Tommy, Lynch and Gardi and I thought all did pretty well in the time I was there. Gardi was winning pretty much all the hitouts and seemed to be jumping pretty well (have some pics of him- how do I post them?). Mac would almost certainly offer more around the ground than him these days, (except perhaps when pushing forward, where Gardi seems to have more of a habit of hitting the scoreboard), but Gardi may still be better in the hitouts department.
Tommy was playing across half back and was reasonably close to where I was for a fair bit of it and like basically every other time I've seen him in the past 12 months (live 4 times this year (twice for St Kilda in NAB Cup and twice for Sandy plus twice on TV) he impressed me. I love how clean and strong his contested overhead marking is and his kicking and decision making are perfectly good, especially for someone of his size. He hit all his targets (with his kicks importantly going to advantage) including a medium difficulty one on the left foot. Looked to be working hard and barely stopped running, albeit not at super speed. I really would love to see him tried up forward in the AFL at some stage, to test that contested marking and getting delivery from the likes of Dal and Goddard, plus being able to boom them from up to 60m.
Tom Lynch seemed to be playing around the middle and had a bit of it and finished with a good running goal from long range. Again, I believe both he and consequently us would have been better served if he had been given more games in the seniors this year, where he would most likely progress more quickly than he is in the rabble that is Sandringham.
I was also told Bakes was doing well, although I wasn't near him all that much when he apparently was.
Didn't spot Winmar at all (if he started the game he may have gotten injured), didn't see Archer or Cahill do anything, saw Heyne do one poor kick and Smith get caught holding the ball. Saw Curren do one nice move in the middle, but he is pretty thin and Simpkin is also pretty thin and had at least a couple kicked on him by Fev, in the time I was there. Hard to see a spot for him in the AFL at this point, being not very tall, or very solidly built. Probably best suited to the flank or pocket, but has many in front of him for those spots at St Kilda. Speaking of Fev, he's regarded as a "nice bloke" off the field, but appears not to be on it. In the 10 or so minutes I was right behind the goals he was kicking to, I heard him give 4 fearful sprays, two to those on his team, one for not getting paid a mark that he dropped and one for not getting a free kick that was 50/50 at best. Also heard someone from Casey telling him it was his turn to chase at one point, as he was basically just standing there at the point of the goalsquare. He didn't chase. If he keeps all that s*** up it won't do his slim chances of an AFL recall any favours. Does look pretty strong and fit, though.
Given how the Coleman could be won with 60 odd goals this year, he could probably still be getting as many goals as anyone in the AFL at the moment, if he was getting AFL standard delivery in a good team.
