Crikey, I hope not! Grams kicking is much of the time sub AFL standard and just embarssing. Id rather the ball in Raphs hands. Also havent seen Raph pull out of a contest in the last few weeks. Gram, however...hmmmm...lets say didnt go as hard as he could have on certain occassions.

Interesting little article from Hutchy on the back page of the Sunday HS Sport liftout yesterday, saying Raph has "credited the substitute rule with his resurgence in form", saying it has "made him work harder on the track".
"I did the sub for about 3 weeks in a row and the more I did the sub role the better I became out of it. I think it's made me work a little bit harder on the track to get noticed, I reckon", said Clarke.

It definitely appears to have done wonders for him, as it's like the old (when he was playing well) Clarke has returned, in the past few weeks. Or that he's woken from a long slumber. He's still capable of the big bloopers and blunders, but at least they're being far outweighed by the really positive stuff again.
More of the good stuff, please, Raph and keep attacking and taking them on (when appropriate)!

I think Gram had about 29 possies and 100% efficiency on saturday night.

26 at 73%, according to the Hun.
Ive noticed since his little spell in the VFL earlier in the year that he's being a lot less reckless with his kicks now. Looking for (and hitting) a lot more short passes, instead of constantly blazing away and spraying the ball all over creation (except when kicking for goal- he's still kicking them for points, or out on the full). I wouldn't be surprised if that was one of the things he had to work on before being allowed back into the seniors.

Agree on Grammy, pausing, and really making an effort to kick lower....credit where it's due, he is working on it.

I believe Raph will make it, nothings changed.

Do they still have the army award - gutsy player, never shirks a contest.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

And still a bloke behind me starts up on Raph after an errant handball late in the game.

I like to see him run and just bomb the thing 50 metres. His short passing is horrendous. High loopy kicks or miss kicks that drop short. He's gotta play within his limitation.

Like Grammy was doing and then get abused for just bombing the ball to no one. I dont think you play footy that way now.

Grammy was having problems kicking a drop punt and not just bombing the ball but missing targets.

Gilbert usually goes with the bomb and does it quite well.

If they are bombing, unless all other options are shut down, I would suggest they are not playing to our coach or any coaches instructions.

Really? I don't see it that black and white. Get it in quick to the forwards would be another coaches directive. Maybe I should rephrase 'bombing' to 'kick it long' to the forwards.

Well that is completely different and yes that can be a good idea if the forwards arent out numbered.
