Point of subbing Lynch off...
Someone explain it to me...
He is a kid developing, why not give him a full run at it, especially against against a group of other kids....he was not hopeless across hf....even if, why not gove him a crack across hb....
Ross has little or no patience with inexperienced players, certainly puts no faith in them....maybe thats why they have FA confidence and often go from talented kids to good ordinary (safe) role players...
Armitage, after a great game last week, was in for one centre bounce tonight, and played 90% fwd....
Both should do themselves a favour....

The question for me is why is he playing? Average at best, poor user of the ball not hard enough at itBigMart wrote:Someone explain it to me...

Yes geary had a huge impact.....1 disposal
Are we really measuring lynch as a footballer after 5 games....
Thats the point im making, you need to allow inexperience players to be ordinay at times, expose them to AFL footy....they will not
McEvoy was a poor ruckman until about 30 games, he is now better, after 80 he will be at his best.
It was a gutless move, that showed a genuine lack of faith in the kid...

Totally agree!
Lynch should be in ahead of Gamble for starters!

Our Tom Lynch did virtually nothing despite playing against a bunch of kids who have been in the system less years than himself.
I would rather have their Tom Lynch, he clearly has more upside.
Totally agree!

Lynch HAD a chance to develop.
Played poorly.
Still had a taste.
Illogical OP.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'
Your a complete knob mate. I hope like hell that Lynch has a better attitude than you.BigMart wrote:Whatwas the point of subbing him off???
Just trying to sap all ofhis confidence....
Our fwd structure was horrible last night...bock had a field day
Seems to me that you are still bitter that your mamma stopped breast feeding you.
why haven't our 18 to 20 year olds won brownlow medals?
Everyone under 25 should be immediately traded for brownlow medalists.
everyone over 25 without a brownlow medal should be traded for round 1 picks because they are awesome.
next year or team of of round 1 picks should be shot if they haven't all won a brownlow, or traded for year afters round 1 picks.

I did answer, I think your question is just a way of having a cheap shot at what we all know is Ross's methods of player development. I have supported many years of the Saints where they were always an 'exciting young side'.BigMart wrote:So what was your answer....what was the point of subbing him off..
Instead of going into a sooky defend ross and stk mode, at least give an answer to the posed question
What is ross's record like in develing kids under 23
We have no players under 23 with 50 games
The point of subbing Lynch off is because he was one of the least effective on the night. And he wasnt gonna magically get any better. And there was a game to be won.

Gamble ... 15 touches....no marks inside 50.....no goals....full game
Lynch .... 10 touches...... 1 goal.....1 mark iside 50..... 2.5 quarters
Big difference.
Was he that crap?
If he palyed the rest of the game
Picked up 3 more touches and snared another goal
Would 13 poss and 2 goals be a POOR game for a 5th gamer
Siposs was getting lauded for 10 poss and one goal games

Big statement which sounds alarmist, but let's look at similar teams in recent years.
How many do you think Geelong has?
Answer = zero
How many do the Pies have
Answer = 3 - so called young team.
How many do the Dogs have?
Answer = 2
How many do the Hawks have?
Answer = 1
And, in 3 games time we will have the same as the Hawks and one more than the Cats. In case you are wondering that's Ben McEvoy.
There is no substance to this argument.
Lynch was subbed off because Bock was close to their best player for half the night and Lynch was struggling. He had a good taste and will continue to develop. He is coming along as well as he is capable of currently IMO.
This.ausfatcat wrote:simple he played crap and the game was still in the balance
Lynch was completely lost out there last night, those of us at the game expected that he would be the one subbed off. We were there to win the game and so the switch was made. Geary may not have had a stat impact, but his sheparding and around the ball action was alot more effective than Lynch's deer in headlights look.
I agree that the young players do need to get some experience, but if the decision comes down to them getting experience and making a change to win the game, well winning the game comes first every time!
