Beloved Craig gone.

Post: # 1110578Post saintspremiers »

He's either resigned or has been sacked.

Had we won by say 5 goals maybe he would've survived.

Well done boys nice job![/code]

He stepped down,
"It's time. To continue would hurt the club, given the negativity and distraction that my own role has become. We have clearly underperformed this year and as senior coach, I take the responsibility for that," Craig told adelaidefc.com.au
.

Poor taste. I'm not celebrating someone getting sacked (effectively) from their job. It could very well be tough on him and his family.

Gee, that's a bit nasty. He undertook one of the most difficult jobs in sport. Coaches are well paid but, unlike some in our community who get big bucks, they earn every cent.

Distasteful.

BUT.

It was getting awfully tiresome hearing about Adelaide's rebuilding program.

You know.

The one that's been going on since 1999 or so...

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

I really thought they were on the rise after the 09 season. Played some great footy and were unlucky to get knocked out of the finals by the Filth. What ever happened since then? They seem to have some extremely talented young players eg. Sloan, Mckay, Vince, Tippet, Dangerfield etc.

Flashback -

Round 15 2001 - St Kilda lose to Adelaide by 97 points at Colonial Stadium, Malcolm Blight is sacked by the club.

10 Years later...

Round 18 2011 - St Kilda beat Adelaide by 103 points at Etihad Stadium, Neil Craig stands down (get the feeling there would have been a little shove).

I'm not chortling about Neil Craig's departure because how many times during the 70s and 80s did the Saints get an absolute flogging followed by the departure of the coach?

So there but for the Grace of God go I.....

Cruel post on one of the most respected and decent guys in the business.

Great Coach to go with it. Fantastic opportunity for the clubs looking for a new one which I'm sure some Clubs are already raising an eyebrow. Good luck to him
